Our fans caused a bit of a rumpus at Stevenage - fighting stewards and chucking flares and waste bins at them.

Got to say, though, that by all reports Stevenage stewards were right bell ends. One refused entry to a 67 year old grandad with Parkinson’s because he thought he was drunk. Another, which sparked the trouble, told a couple of our boisterous fans ‘Don’t mess with the Taliban’ and offered them a fight - which they duly got.

Where do they dig these people up from
Dunno, but neer a season goes by without the Stevenage stewards becoming embroiled in some sort of controversy. I think it was a few seasons ago now that they made female Grimsby fans strip down in public, you'd have thought Stevenage would have found better stewards.

Grim behaviour that.

I hate when our fans act like twats but seems there was a fair bit of provocation going on this time.

I saw Barrow’s Robbie Gotts got voted for motm on Twitter by getting an overwhelming 90% of the vote. I wonder how many of the over 9k that voted are Leeds fans….

Think we're going to have to rethink doing MOTM polls...

Oldham fans seem to be suggesting that the board brought in some hired goons to weed out/beat up protesters. Blokes dressed all in black just battering people.

Security did seem to make up about half of the attendance on Saturday.

Stevenage stewards being bigoted morons, surely not? It's about time these knuckle draggers got shown up for what they are by their club/employees doing the right thing and reprimanding them. Can bet your bottom dollar on three things...

1) any trouble will have been in at a least some way incited by the stewards there
2) Stevenage will conveniently not have any CCTV footage of the incident with the old boy and therefore won't do anything about
3) the Stevenage forum will have a big thread about how appalling Swindon fans are.

We always lose at Swindon. It's just a fact that I don't see changing on Saturday. We've had some really good periods in games but we're not sustaining our performance. I'm hoping it's a gelling issue and not a more deep rooted issue.

I think our players are better than we have had for a few years and I want the manager to do well, but he tried to change too many things on Saturday and some of the players seemed unsure of their role.

Players and manager owe us a performance.

If we put that first 20 minutes, the 20 minutes before half time at Bolton together and put in a 90 minute performance we would be looking at automatic promotion this year, big question is can we put that into a full performance for once and more importantly then sustain that week in week out.

As said the football in those two spells was some of the best i've seen from a Vale side in many years, up there with the early performances in Micky Adams promotion season but the chalk and cheese between that and after our heads dropped when Dale scored rather than just keep going despite the set back is a big worry we cant allow to happen.

We used to have a right laugh with their stewards. One bloke we called Meat Loaf and bantered with him the whole game.

I'm surprised Stevenage even have a forum

Suggest they watch it back again - awful challenge and followed-through with two feet.

The aim is to stay up and at this time I'm reasonably confident we can.

L2 is better standard you can see that but not massively to be honest. You can argue we've played 4 sides who'll be bottom half but we've been the better side in most of those games. These are games you need points from. I think we'll be fine especially at home.

You could even argue our first X1 is weaker than the one that won the play offs, squad wise it's stronger in numbers though and that was DC's priority. We'll need that as you say in a few months time.
In fairness, both Bristol Rovers and ourselves recently went back to back from the NL to L1. Momentum of a promotion goes a long way.

Been there a few times, we've never had any issues. Were they anticipating some sort of protest?
