You have a 14 point cushion to 4th place and it seems that every time you play a promotion rival you demolish them, I think you’re pretty safe mucker.
Whilst I 100% agree, I now wish for the absolute car wreck to take place at FGR, just so we can come back to this post

This'll no doubt come back to bite me but Rob Edwards is that good that we're now at the point where even losing a few key players would see us limp over the line fine as he's got even the second string purring.

Would prefer we don't need to try that theory out though, the only game Moore-Taylor missed we went from keeping clean sheets every week to shipping 5 at Oldham!

It is similar to 2015 when FGR were outstanding team of year with mega cushion and still failed to get promoted. Grimsby should remember that year as they beat us in Wembley play off final.
This season slightly better and of course to quote FGR Chairman Dale Vince: "It is easier to get promoted from League 2 than from the Conference" simply because there are twice as many team getting promoted each season.
So yes it's looking good for at least a place in promotion play-offs, (minimum) even if FGR only manage one point per game for remainder of season: > Actually that would leave FGR with 80 points, usually good enough for auto promotion.

I do get what you’re saying although the difference this time is that for you to not go up you would need 3 teams to catch you as opposed to just the one (Cheltenham) in 2016.

Forest Green are absolutely walking it. They could have relegation form from here on in and still do it. They're always likely to pick up wins along the way, especially if their strikers stay fit.

It's a strange one for us because both times we have played them, they've looked like a mid table side but they've clearly been very good against others. It's more about consistently picking up points, whereas we've just been through a patch where we didn't pick up many.

The teams that get promoted tend to follow a defeat with 2 wins on the bounce and then a draw and then another win. Earlier in the season we bounced back from defeat but with our injuries it's been virtually impossible. We really got our hopes up earlier in the season for the autos and they're still possible but we would have to have a magnificent run. It's just been one of those seasons where the cards haven't quite fallen for us. Stop start, injuries to key players, fixtures falling at the wrong time.

Yeah FGR are home and hosed pretty much. It’s a bit different if their fans wanted to start talking about promotion at this point than a clubs supporters who in the past may have posted HMS Piss The League memes after being top in September. Not that I can think of any club who would ever do such a thing :hypo:

Our game with Salford now re-arranged for 5th April. Going to be a busy end to the season for us.

To be fair a batch of our fans have been singing "We're on our way to League One" since at least the Carlisle away game at the start of October, which was probably a bit premature.

While I have ever more confidence in our quite excellent team and manager (and join in the general sense of "thank God Cooper is gone, for all that he did for us"), I'm still expecting us to slip up at some point soon....and while I join in with the singing too....eggs, chickens, not yet hatched

They did nosedive a little bit in the final 18 games or so last season.. but even a repeat of that would win them the league.

They’d need to do a collapse more akin to Carlisle.

It would be a collapse of Devon Loch proportions. But that's why we love sport - it's possible.

Lets be honest FGR walking it but most of us should all have a long hard look at ourselves for allowing them. Just goes to show how poor this league is really

Agree totally...although October is the month where we last lost a league game and...staggeringly...conceded a goal at home!

Exhausting day, feared we were on for a battering going down 1-0 after 5 minutes and 2 shortly after but we battled hard in the second half and played with pride, giving their keeper a few shots to save, it seems like a daft thing to say and plainly obvious but they were just galaxies ahead of us, the tiniest of mistakes latched on and they just play keep ball like the Harlem Globetrotters.

All in all we’ve had a good run and made a decent bit of coin out of today, play a bit more expansive in the league and we’ll be fine this season.
Far too defensive in the first half, made a better fist of it when we went 4-4-3 in the second half, fantastic weekend though.
Like most fans,I’d have rather have played Spurs or Chelsea, but I’m glad we didn’t,Palace is a great club with fans to match.
Hopefully Lee will start 4-4-3 against Barrow & fo for it from the kick off.

4-4-3, are you playing rush goalie?

I knew Scunthorpe fans were down, but this shows just how resigned most of them are to going down.
