One fixture down for the week already with us and Cardiff playing out a 0-0 at VP last night. Think we put in a pleasing performance and full value for at least a point and maybe with a bit more luck / composure could have walked away with three points. We certainly dominated the physical battle which might be something future Cardiff opponents might look to focus on.

Bolton v Plymouth and Reading v Huddersfield look the standout fixtures.

Not expecting too many changes from the AFCW game. No one was signed in the 7 days between fixtures and I’m not expecting Yates and definitely not Brammall to be anywhere near match fitness.

As a spectacle I’m expecting something a bit more open than last Friday’s borefest where Luton struggled to break down a dogged AFCW side.

Revelations about spending and debts has really filled the place with doom and gloom, local rag billing it as rags v riches with Blackpools recent spending. Also have a terrible record against them.
Sigh.

Not sure where our goals are going to come from after last week, we create but don’t look as if we have anyone capable of converting too many chances. We do look more solid than we have in sometime so I’m expecting a very tight draw.

What do I know? Jerry Yates comes in from the start today. Feel that's a bit of a risk considering he's had no recognised football since May.

Interesting choice of formation - maybe we have switched to a 4-2-3-1, but I think the likeliest scenario is that we continue with the 3-5-2, with Milli Alli playing as LWB. I personally think that's a bit of a waste of his talent.

Agree with you that it’s a waste but the squad is full of centre halves, CMs wjth very limited wide players so probably the best we can make of it. I’m expecting a similar stodgy attacking performance as you just can’t play this shape properly with the wingbacks we have

Been flicking between both games. The Peterboroughv v Luton is the more watchable of the two. Reading and Huddersfield passing it well but not much happened.

If the Peterborough-Luton game is more watchable I can’t imagine how bad the other one is.

That was fucking pants.

The shape needs to change completely. I don’t understand the reticence for not playing Naismith at LB.

It was just a load of sideways and backwards with not much action where it matters.

You're at least looking to get forward though I think your team needs to be sat down and have the offside law explained to them as they seem to have fell into the trap a lot.

If you include the last PSF, it’s 15 offsides in 3 games. It’s felt more. There were spells in previous years, especially under Jones, where we’d never get caught offside in a whole game.

Job Dunne though. Luton really haven’t got going in the first 2 matches and yet sit with 2 clean sheets, 3 goals and 6 points.

Genuinely no idea where that came from. Could have been 8-1, Blackpool were dreadful. Brierley, Wareham, Doyle-Hayes all look like decent players at this level

He’s too slow and unathletic for that. He wasn’t even good at that in his very first stint here - he will be worse now. He’s a pure LCB in a 3 at this point in his career which is actually one of the issues. The strongest part of the team is the CB’s but they are all best in a back 3 than a 4 - which is then dictating the shape.

The answer is to properly invest at LWB & RWB. With players in those spots of similar quality to what we have at CB/CM we would be a great side for the level imo. As it is it’s CB’s trying to do a job on those spots in a shape that is predicated on good players there. We’ve kind of got away with that because to be honest the opposition we have come up against so far haven’t been great
