First 30 minutes we were chasing shadows and the Notts goal was a cracker, how is Jatta playing at this level? We started to get back into it after the goal but I was extremely happy that we were only one down at half time. Second half was all us and we should have come away with all 3 points but our finishing is still leaving a lot to be desired and we were denied a stonewall pen. Having said that a very entertaining game.

I thought Grimsby were decent. Poor goal conceded by us. We played ok not a bad performance. Grimsby defended well and we didn't test their keeper enough. Just one of those game's. On to the next one.

Walsall fans weird as fuck. Are they expecting Crewe to take the lead and then play at 100mph?

Have some perspective, and show some respect to your fellow League 2 teams.
I mean Crewe were timewasting from the first whistle.

I've seen plenty of gamesmanship down here over the years, I don't mention half of it because it's the new norm - just today was another level of it. That and the ref being sold every time led to a very frustrating afternoon and a pretty shit game of football.

Crewe are a clearly a good team too, which just made it even stranger.

We were poor by our standards but on another day we come away with an undeserved 1, maybe 2 nil win and everyone says it's a Moore masterclass away performance. As it is, an absolute howler from the ref not giving the stonewall pen (they're so thick, it's an open goal if he stays up, no one dives in that situation), Stockley missing a sitter, and Debrah going asleep for their goal and we lose 1 nil and fans are laying the blame on Moore for his subs.

Criticising the Hackford sub is so lazy. Seen people say it confused them, completely ignoring the MK Dons winner and the Accy equaliser. Classic fickle football fans.

No team deserved to win it, the lack of quality deserved a 0 - 0, which I'd have taken. We very rarely do well there. No major harm done though with other results, still 3 points clear and a big chance to right this wrong next week. The BSM v Wrexham on Tuesday can get f**ked for me.

I know you don't always buy into silly banter and one-upmanship, Meadow...but the rules are the rules and this needs to be highlighted unfortunately. Apologies.
Fair do's. Your defence were excellent.

Don't be silly. Half the added time was you lot kicking off on Thibaut. If you can't handle a decent team turning up at your place, you best not bother. Leave the promotion places to people that can handle the pressure.

Yes, if the referee has played football at any level, he'd know that Curtis would stay on his feet and score. Clear penalty.

I understand what you're saying about Hackford, but this just wasn't the game for him in my opinion. From what I can tell, he's just quick but seems to lack any sort of football intelligence. It needed someone with a bit of guile. He just doesn't contribute to general play.

Hopefully it's a one off.

Also the guy that brought noncing into it. Disgraceful and should be banned.

Do these people have any thoughts to Crewe fans that have experienced sexual abuse?

No, they don't give a fuck. It's all a points scoring thing.
Probably the worst team I’ve seen at Bescot this season, but what Crewe did well was the dark arts of the game. One shot one goal and then try to drain everything out of the game. With the complete lack of ability from the referee, today turned into a very good point. We were the better side without creating those killer passes. Would have liked to have seen the subs earlier as they seamed to lift us but all a bit too late.

You can definitely feel aggrieved about the foul on Wright in our goal in the first half. It wasn't a foul. So I'll definitely give you that as you had the ball in the back of the net. Beyond that though, I think Wright made a couple of good stops but I don't think you carved out anything I'd describe as a really big chance. Lots of huffing and puffing. A draw was probably a fair result for me. When the ref inexplicably added three extra minutes onto the 90+3 and you had a corner at the death I really thought it might have been a point a piece too.
I thought it was a clear foul on Wright. Whistle went immediately and well before it was put in the net.

Disappointed with AFCW, thought they would be far better than they were, more direct than I expected. Buigel and Stevens are highly rated but didn’t do a lot. Their best player was probably Tilley.

Not a great game but Grimsby defended well after being gifted the opener by a defensive/keeper cock up. 5 away league wins on the bounce isn’t to be sniffed at.

European tie next week seems fitting for the International break weekend.

I've followed Crewe for 31 years and I think that's the first time I've seen anyone describe us as being good at the dark arts. I don't hate it.

Much needed win for Rovers v Newport. It could have all been very different if an early goal for Hudlin had been chalked off for offside, or Norman had seen a red rather than yellow card in the opening ten minutes after a wild challenge. Don't know if the first was correctly called offiside, but the AR appeared to get a few wrong calls when I was watching more closely in the second half. Instead, helped by a cool finish from Jennings to give us the lead at half time, we went on to win 2-1 with Patrick and Norris hitting the woodwork for good measure.

Jennings starring being played in his correct central attacker position and good games from Omari Patrick and Sam Finley finding his feet after an injury-delayed start to his season, all encouraging signs as was Adkins not chopping and changing the starting xi. I thought Newport might struggle in my pre-season prediction and that seemed to be borne out by today's showing.

I think Grimsby are about the least shithousery team in League 2, certainly no over the top time wasting or feigning injury today

We are now in a nicely balanced cycle, we get smashed at home, the Fishy goes into meltdown, the following week we win away and some smartarse c*** on here says wtf are Grimsby doing in xth.

Of course if this continues we could finish the season in the play-offs with a goal difference of -20.

Yeah the first 20-30 mins was the best of the season, topped off by a stunner of a goal.

Our bench was a shitshow so i can kind of understand not bringing anyone on, but why he’s not getting Crowley on there only Maynard knows.

Not really fit.

It wasn’t so much Hackford coming on but Stockley going off, v MK and Accy he played off Stockley which worked.

Throwing him on as a lone front man was ridiculous especially against a team that’s generally solid at the back.

We had 9 missing today so its probably a game too far in this run and we’ve done well with our depth to cope but getting bodies back is key now, we know Hart is close, assume minutes into Harper Tuesday and John isn’t far off.

Garrity out for weeks is a big blow but need Byers back. Hopefully by Crewe/Cheltenham we will have Byers and the likes of John back and look stronger.

Can’t recall your ‘better chances’ tbh and a challenge on /jumping into the keeper, who has his arms above his head attempting to catch the ball, is always going to be given as a foul. It’s in the laws!.

Anyway, I have to say I expected more from the home team but nevertheless are grateful for the 3 points

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Well got my first Carlisle game really for two years yesterday, the win was an additional bonus and while you can see many issues the last 7 days with the battling performance against Wigan and scrappy result yesterday have at least given a much needed morale boost and letting fans and players feed off each other than fight each other for once.

It’s interesting watching as such as an outsider, can pinpoint some issues you’d maybe over look if you know things anyway.

For me Carlisle have two major issues they somehow need to address, first was shape, I frankly had to ask numerous times what the hell formation they were playing because there was never shape all game, I believe it was 5-3-2 but since the wing backs neither A : ever supported defence as defence on the wings or B: made any runs forward to give wide options in attack……I was never sure. Add in one of the forwards in Armstrong spent 80% of his time running back into midfield to do most of their work, the whole approach just seemed to be clumps of players all standing next to each other playing short dangerous balls with absolute no runners.

That is other major issues you’d maybe lack of grafters, especially midfield but all over pitch, no one hardly running forward, no one running back, limited attack options and limited doubling up on defence.

Probably both can be solved in January I assume lack of shape is down to not having players for what he wants and lack of grafters can be brought in when January arrives.
