Seen Liverpool fans on Twitter go into breakdown at this, O'Driscoll is a good highly rated coach and because they're only interested in the Premier League they've never heard of him so aren't happy about it, instead they want someone who 'knows the club' like the highly qualified coach that is Ian Rush

It's not particularly or just that (although some is due to ignorance of O'Driscoll), but loads of our fans on twitter wanted some "big name" appointed so they could "challenge" Rodgers, and they don't perceive him to be someone who'll do so because he hasn't assistant managed in the Kazakh League or something. The amount of twitter scouts we've got is incredible, they all want someone like Meulensteen and him to bring in the Belarussian u19 DM with him. Tedious the lot of them.

Basically it's the lot who want Rodgers sacked but are now being quiet about directly saying so because he's staying having a pop at Rodgers by proxy.

O'Driscoll is a good appointment, struggles with the media stuff sometimes but that won't be needed at Liverpool.

I think the idea that ANY new assistant would have replaced Rodgers is a little naive.

You have to question these people sometimes, would that be the same Rene Meulensteen with a 24% win record at Fulham? And they'd want him to replace Rodgers?

Nah, they want him as assistant, because he's a 'name' basically, and he's already criticised Rodgers in the past. What makes them think he'd appoint someone who's had a pop at him, fuck knows.

They all want Klopp as manager.

The official Liverpool page on Facebook has gone into meltdown and it's hilarious.

I don't want to go off on a tangent but if you ever get the chance you should check out Sudanese football. Some of the crowds at their games are crackpot bonkers. Al Merreikh or Al Hilal. Choose your side in the Omdurman derby.

I want Klopp as well, but surely we have to give the two new guys a chance? And I would rather have Pascoe back than Mulen w.e his name is.

Meulensteen has great assistant manager stats on Football Manager ... ... ...

Brendan loves being the face doesn't he, loves all that media stuff so no worries for SO'D. I'm looking forward to our first season without Gerrard, Hopefully a few players will step up. Brendan could do with being a bit more flexible with his tactics. He's switches formations quite often - but we always have the same problems, passing it out from the back and defending set-pieces.
