So it's an almost new experience for us (Wrexham) fans in the up-coming season in the Championship....we were last at this level 40-odd years ago - football's changed a tad, since!

We will be the ONLY team in the league, that have NEVER played in the top tier of English football. We will do well... in most fans' eyes (including our own...) to not be back in L1 next season.

Who are the fav's for promotion & relegation then...

You'd think the 3 relegated from the Prem would be amongst the favourites to be automatically promoted with the parachute payments they'll get, but as Luton proved, it's not always the case. Conversely, the 3 promoted teams usually struggle to make that massive step-up - as Pompey, Derby & Oxford found out.

Despite all the hype around us, anywhere comfortably around mid-table would be fine by me. Sort out the ground & the rest of it (infra-structure etc...) then build the team...but it doesn't work like that does it?

R&R and the team they've put in place, are ALL about 'momentum'. They have a really valid point. But there's also the argument that you shouldn't run before you can walk!

But what about 'your' team? What are your prospects, and who are you signing? Where do you think you'll end up?

Let's have it......

Big overhaul underway, last season was shocking, but expecting 10 signings this summer to improve the mentality and quality of the squad.

Impossible to guess how we'll do at this stage, nearly going down seems to have given a few heads a wobble though.

Looking forward to going back to Deepdale. Last time I was there was back in the day when Alex Bruce was your main man (...I know - old codger alert :bye: )

It's changed massively in the years since...whereas The Racecourse hasn't that much really. Just shows how our paths (& fortunes) have altered in all those years.

Ten players coming in for you, will be a challenge getting them all on same hymn sheet, but you needed them by the sounds of it. Hope it works out better for you next season.

Yeah, that's more my dad's era.

25 years since we played each other, I'd like to go to the Racecourse but imagine it will sell out fast.

Pompey have a good core of a team. Without the ridiculous amount of injuries to our back line I think we'd have been around midtable. What let us down last season was not having a squad good enough to play 3 games in a week at a good level. We were 7th in the league from December to end of the season with a play off home form, but relegation away form. Bishop and Murphy didn't start the season due to injury and surgery. 3 needed in CM as we currently only have 1 champ ready in Dozzell. If they can hit the ground running and we get a starter RW think midtable is very achievable. We then need more depth in the 4 attacking positions.

How quickly the players and coaching staff get to grips with the championship will determine where Wrexham end up. It's a mammoth jump in fitness and strength.

Relegated.

Players and staff not paid March or May’s wages on time. Mays still unpaid at time of writing this. Another embargo looms. The manager will be gone soon.

Chansiri has turned down two offers for the club since the season ended, announced plans to pump millions into facilities, yet can’t pay the employees wages. Truly baffling.

Yeah, reading about your problems this morning... I never knew tbh, and with the wages involved at this level, it's not as if the fans could have a whip-round' to pay the the players/staffs wages (like we had to do sometimes in our darkest days when Hamilton was trying to bust the club)

He sounds a right shyster.....

It's a horrible thing to go through. You can just about get over being rubbish and getting relegated, but when it's out of the manager and footballers control and purely down to the executives and owners it's gutting. Been through it personally 3 times. All three times I've had members of my family working there, not being paid from month to month. Having to take petty cash to pay bills, voluntary pay reductions etc.. Fingers crossed the owner gets out asap

The best bit of news coming out of S6 for a while from local journo Rob Staton

“Understand Sheffield Wednesday are directing interested parties to a professional team with a proven track record of selling clubs, with the aim of completing a takeover. NDA’s being signed, proper process taking place #SWFC”

Difficult to predict how the Blades will do in the coming season. Ok Wilder did well overall since he first came in around 2015 but as time moved on his style of football didn’t. Last season was shocking as far as football went despite winning shit loads of games, and credit to the manager for that.

I only go to home games so base my opinions on that but we seemed to be regularly outplayed despite going on to scrape home most of the time, We were totally gaffered by Portsmouth, Plymouth, Bristol City ( normal season), Sunderland and particularly by Hull when Selles was in charge.

Personally I’m looking forward to the new season now that Wilders left. I decided around February that I wasn’t renewing my season ticket irrespective of the division I was so fed up with the poor fare on offer at the Lane.

Other than Vinni Souza we’ve so far held on to the squad but I’d be amazed if we kick off in August with the likes of Hamer, Burrows, Ahmedodjic, Cooper still wearing the shirt.

A qualified play-off finish

Only just seen you've signed Louis Barry. Crackin' signing for you, as (unfortunately), we've seen first-hand what he can do to teams.
'If' he stays fit, I think he'll shine with a full season in the Championship...

Probably be a lot of hype and expectations but little substance and we end up mid table and another new manager .

We always start well but then totally go off the boil post Christmas.

Seem to have recruited a few players so hopefully one or two come good !

What is coming apparent is the number of basket cases the Championship is spewing out this is mainly from the running out of Parachute money to Dodgy owners.

Danny Rohl has now officially gone. Wouldn’t be a surprise to see him managing against us before long

Currently have depth in most places now. I think we are still another Winger and Forward and potentially a Left Sided Centre back from having good cover in each position.

We are going to surprise a few people this season. Not by storming to promotion, but by getting a comfortable mid-table finish even though almost everyone has us marked for relegation.

Thoughts on Simons and Burstow.......22 and 21 You signed both from Chelsea. Simons 22 and played for England every age from 15 until 20. He looks pure class
Burstow you paid 2m for him then played him out of position.
Awful goalscoring record but as i say played out of position......You must have a decent squad to let both go

Simons is good, but probably not Championship level yet. There were plenty of fans who thought he should have been kept as backup though. Burstow needs to play regularly as a central striker, which wasn't going to happen with us (there would have been too many players ahead of him in the queue). I think there's a player there if he wants it enough (which might be part of the problem), but I'm probably in a minority of City fans who rated him at all. Could do a job in League 1 though, and I hope he does so we can at least sell him for a profit.

We've definitely strengthened the overall squad, 12 new signings, particularly midfield and the keeper department, but probably relying on Osmajic too much for goals.

Daniel Iversen, Jack Walton, Dai Cornell

Odel Offiah, Lewis Gibson, Andrew Hughes, Jordan Storey, Liam Lindsay

Pol Valentin, Thierry Small, Brad Potts, Robbie Brady, Andrija Vukcevic

Ali McCann, Harrison Armstrong, Alfie Devine, Ben Whiteman, Stefan Thordarson, Mads Frokjaer, Theo Carroll, Jordan Thompson

Milutin Osmajic, Lewis Dobbin, Michael Smith, Daniel Jebbison, Will Keane

I've no relegation concerns but also no expectations of troubling the top 10.

We've actually ended up with a decent squad.

Schmid, Burski, Killip, Archer (possibly deregistered)

RB Swanson, Williams, Devlin
CB Shaggnaussey, Poole. Knight with Matthews and Bowat behind them
LB Ogilvie, Farrell

CM Swift, Dozzell, Pack, Koszofszy, Le Roux

AM Lang (out for 12 weeks), Murphy, Chaplin, Segicic, Bianchini, Yang with Blair, Umeh (signed from Palace)

FW Bishop with Waddingham and Kirk as young backups

Having no real senior backup to Bishop is a risk. Last season our main issue was the amount of injuries at the back. If we can keep a decent back 4 fit we'll be a good side. Keeping Murphy and adding Conor Chaplin I think takes us from the middle of the bottom half high midtable. Big IF, but if injuries are kind I think we'll be pushing top 10.

A month on and we are more than happy with the two players we have taken from you.
You must have some central midfield to let Simons go he certainly is Championship class
Burstow has 3 in 6 and puts a shift in......He has had the central role but now with Dalby being fit and signing Forss from boro i think he may drop to the 10. He drops deep and likes to run at defenders

Going back to Simons we paid you 400k for him. We also brought in Ethan Erhahon for 750k and sold Thomason to Wrexham for 1.2m and Simons is better than either of them

He is a decent player, but he'd be 6th in the queue for a central midfield place. Nice to see him doing well for you, Burstow also.

Its all about opinions and with Motazo out for the season i doubt you have one better than Simons but good luck on the season

Matazo will be back in November/December, ahead of Simons are Lundstram, Matt Crooks, Hadžiahmetović, Slater (just) and Gyabi (probably but can't know yet). Matazo will be our best player so you can add him for second half of the season.

Lundstram of six years ago perhaps. Matt Crooks another whose best is behind him but he will do a job for you this season and perhaps next. Hadziahmetovic not a clue about so cannot comment. Slater behave Gyabi i doubt either of us can say who is a better player.......Good grounding and cost leeds a lot of money
Its all about opinions but you have let a very good player slip through the net.
