So here we are again, broke up from work now and am not back again till after the game, a week of constant nausea whenever the subject comes up to look forward to.

A month ago you'd have struggled to find a Blues fan (or probably Villa fan for that matter) who wouldn't have us down as major favourites, but as sure as night follows day we've descended into relegation form whilst Villa have suddenly turned into Barcelona. The appointment of Bruce, as unforgivable as it is from our point of view, is sure to set them on the path toward the top end of the table and a win at St Andrews would have the yokels 'high sixing' from here to Tamworth.

For me though I'm going to stay positive, Blues are at our best when our backs are against the wall, and Villa are coming here now full of themselves. I worried about the little scrat Grealish being the 'local hero' but I've since read he's now banned. Our defence worries the shit out of me, he simply must play Shotton & Morrison as the centre half partnership and stop trying to shoehorn Paul Robinson into the starting XI, and it's time to bring Legzdins out of the firing line and get Kuszczak back in the sticks, whether he will or not remains to be seen, he can be quite stubborn.

Steve Bruce is a wanker, his head is fucking fat
He used to manage Hull, but then he got the sack
With nowhere else to go he joined the Villa scum
Even though he knows they are the second team in Brum

Been some awful games over the years with some crackers thrown in. Blues are not pretty and will get stuck in. We have a soft belly and can play some awful awful stuff. 1.1 which is a bit of a yawn, but it's a decent result.

Reckon we'll pop up with a late winner here... 1-0/2-1 to us.

That, or it'll be a dull as fuck 0-0.

El Guapo, I've never called you as SHA, it's always been blues to me and my villa supporting family. Also most of my villa mates refer to you as blues among one or two other things. You've changed your name 4 times since your birth into English football, and as you probably know the city of Birmingham wanted a team to Have its name, hence the name change to Birmingham, then after the war, to Birmingham city. Aston was not part of Birmingham until 1911 so history tells us we won a lot of our trophies as a non Birmingham club. No way we would of changed our name anyway because we was a bit of a superpower back then and it would of been commercial suicide to change our name from Aston villa to something no one would of been familiar with. Anyway enough of the history lesson, and I thought I'd move this discussion into this thread to stop annoying the non villa blues fans:bg: also I think a lot of villa fans are proud to be brummies. My grandad was from erdington but back in the day before mass away travel, when villa were away he used to go and watch the blues or Albion if they were at home. This was before football became tribal. It was quite common for people to do that I think. Probably boring you know so I'll leave it at that.

Either you have a secret fondness for Blues or you just like history :bg:

Speaking of which, do you recall which event in Aston took place on this day in 1961?

It was the day when Blues won 3-1 at Villa Park. Thought you might appreciate it. I like history as well. Well, some of it.

If you like history you should of been a vile fan :bg: there has been some great games over the years, those first two prem games were something else. Obviously terrible nights for villa fans, but yeah both explosive nights.

It'll be my lads first experience of a Blues/Villa game, he wanted to go to the cup game last year but I drew the line at taking him to an away derby, I had no hesitation taking him to this one though. These Sunday early kick offs rarely attract any trouble around the actual stadium.

Group of our pals, Blues & Villa, all meeting up at 8am for a few tunes and a few beers. Going our separate ways to the ground then meeting up again after once the dust has settled.

I'm a bag of nerves, I won't lie, it's all that's been spoken about in our local pubs etc this week, I thought it wouldn't bother me as much as I got older, it does.

Be nice to get them back to 3 o'clock KO or even night games, but it will never happen. These early KO on Sunday take some of the bite out of the games. I'm getting fairly confident and I'm glad we have a manager who knows the deal regarding this game.

Are we forgetting the 8000+ empty seats at VP for the game last year? :dk:

those were left empty on police advice :bg: nah it was a poor crowd and tbf the whole thing was a bit of an anti climax . this should be selling out with ease though, especially with a reduced capacity.

Not to mention that 8000 empty seats at Villa Park still means a crowd of 34000+. Still larger than the entire capacity of the Sty.

All this talk about how we "cant" sell our tickets, I'll give anyone double face value if they can go and buy me one. I've been going the Blues 30+ years, visiting easily 70+ grounds...yet I couldn't buy me and my son a ticket. Luckily I've managed to get one through a family member, but the way it's being thrown about anyone would think there's piles of tickets just sat around in the club shop just waiting to be taken

I am having to go alone tomorrow, a few work colleagues can't go due to that I've always bought our tickets in my name and it's strictly one ticket per client reference for the Villa match. A lot who want to go can't go.

That's fair enough. I had heard it was very long winded to get tickets. Stupid really and I think your club have made a right balls up how they have gone about this match.

Someone take a photo, this rare occasion I wholeheartedly agree with a Villa fan :lol:

The way it's been approached is though it's two packs of wild animals who must never come into contact, ridiculous, most of us will be totting together within a couple of hours of the final whistle.

it's ridiculous mate. WMP are doing all they can to ruin this Derby, and the clubs don't help either. We had the same in the cup game to a degree but I don't think it was as bad as you've got it. This is a pretty violent Derby compared to some, but come on let's not turn it into Syria.

A bit of an anti-climax? What, Gestede scoring a second half winner in-front of a reverberating Villa Park under the floodlights? Certainly wasn't an anti-climax from my position in the Lower Holte..

In fairness to Small Heath, they could have sold 50,000 like they took to Bruges if the ticket criteria was set correctly / if they weren't all protesting against their owners / the JLR plant hadn't closed down in 1987. A city of one million people who all support Birmingham City, yet can't sell 23,000 tickets for their cup final. Hilarious.

Welcome to the forum dude, I'm glad you're here, for far too long we've had a decent set of Villa fans I feel don't fairly reflect the general populous.

They're like a Village that lost their idiot, happily it appears he's been found
