What a game this poses to be. With their defeat against Switzerland, Serbia know that only a win will do in all likelihood do for them, as they can't just rely on Switzerland beating Costa Rica. Can they do it against a Brazil team that it's still hard to judge properly.

Or will Brazil once again get the job done? They've not looked great in my opinion, but deserved their win against Costa Rica. Does that give them confidence to kick, knowing a win more than likely puts them top?

On paper It's the game of the tournament so far, which means it's going to be a big anti-climax.

Or I hope so anyway -- I'm at partner's birthday dinner.

Come on Serbia beat those prima donna's (except for the mighty Firmino, but we want him to have a good long rest now for our title campaign next season!). Nobody REALLY likes Brazil anyway.

Serbia lacking quality to hurt Brazil so far. Got into some good positions, final ball has been terrible.

Find it so hard to support any side that has Neymar in it. He just goes down every time like he’s had his leg snapped in two or when someone touches his shoulder and he throws himself to the floor holding his face..
He’s got a long way to go to be a superstar for me.

If Serbia had players that could finish, they might be decent.

That's game over. Serbia couldn't finish their dinner, let alone a decent goalscoring chance.

They are so lucky once again. This should be 1-1. Damn Mitrovic, I talk him up and this is how he repays me..

Neymar has been electric since the break, he has been playing too deep in this tournament, much like Messi trying to do everything. Let him run at people.

Brazil vs Mexico is going to be fuuuuuuuuuuun. Sweden vs Switzerland...not so much.

Brazil just been that little bit quicker, sharper, more composed. Serbia have been pretty poor all in all, going out with a whimper.

Serbia, that was atrocious. What a limp display with qualification on the line, can't say I've seen a more inept attacking display in a long time. How many half decent moves and openings did they waste with poor decisions and touches?

Brazil saunter through in the end, didn't even need to break a sweat for the final 20 minutes or so.

Looking increasingly likely that my prediction of another World Cup for these samba bastards is going to come true.

Because Brazil limped to a victory against Serbia? I predicted Brazil too, but having seen them in the 3 games, I feel they’ll get turned over again way before the final.

Yeah, but by who? I'm not being funny, but almost all of the favourites have been massively underwhelming so far. Portugal and Spain limped out of their group. France haven't played well at all. Argentina scraped through. Germany are out. Colombia might go out, we don't know how England and Belgium stack up against decent opposition. Yes, this has been a good world cup, but its also wide open, because nobody has looked that impressive, not when faced with good opposition anyway.

The world cup winners list is littered with nations that slumped through the group stage en route to going all the way.

All very true. I said this the other day, so many underwhelming teams. Although I think Spain could turn over Brazil, I think Uruguay could, who knows.. maybe even Mexico could catch them out like they caught Germany out. I also think that England shouldn’t be afraid of a side like Brazil if they play to their full potential. Of course I don’t know the competition structure though, so maybe Brazil won’t come up against some of these teams I’ve mentioned before the final and they will limp forward step by step..

Not as much in recent times though. Spain lost their first game in 2010, then that woke them up for the rest of the tournament. That was the last big blip I remember. Teams who end up winning usually look convincing/show improvement during the group stages.

Most notable thing about Brazil is that they have been improving with each game. Their game with Mexico is going to be fascinating.
