We're playing very well at the moment so we really need to be looking at winning this. However, we aren't as good away as we are at home so it will be harder.

Few are as bad as we are at home. 15 home defeats clocked up in League one in the 26 home games since the start of last season.

Adam "more cards than Clintons" El-Abd is suspended for this game and he's been our best centre back this season. The defence have been frail even with El-Abd playing so I don't like to think about what sort of performance the back four might put in without his influence on Saturday.

On the plus side Jim O'Brien, who Scunthorpe obviously know well, might be fit enough to play some part after missing several games with injury.

Probably only the most optimistic of Town fans would predict a home win in this game.

Avoiding yet another home defeat would be a start of sorts but if we do lose again expect the pressure on Mellon to increase further with many of the natives getting increasingly restless with him.

We concede goals for fun, Scunthorpe keep scoring and we dont have El-Abd, can only see this going one way, both teams to score away win.

I think a Scunny win has to be the league one banker for this weekend

I wouldn't be so sure.

We haven't played to our full ability in any of our away games so far whereas we have in every one of our home games, if we play like we do at home then we should win.

Should be an away win but sometimes bankers don't happen in football is a hope we can clutch too. We have players who can score so expect a high scoring match. Most of our fans whilst acknowledging the weakness of our back line seem to rate Leutwiller who whilst can make a good save I personally think the rest of his game is poor. Prediction 4-2 to Scunthorpe

Yet another home defeat, and another embarrassing one at that. Particularly second half, Daniels won't have an easier 45 minutes all season.

Scunthorpe didn't break sweat today, they didn't need to. Town were so poor going forward and threw in another bit of keystones cop defending for the winning goal. Had Madden not missed an absolute sitter in the second half the margin of victory would have been greater.

As for Mellon's post-match interview, he's a man in denial and clearly really feeling the strain right now.

We really weren't at our best today and were easily the 2nd best team. However, good teams have the ability to grind out results and pick up wins when they're not at their best which we did today.

I was actually quite impressed with Shrewsbury today, I thought they were the better team and moved the ball around nicely. They'll beat other teams playing like that.

I thought the ref was very good as well today, let the game flown and gave out bookings when they were deserved.

Scunny are probably the only side in this division who stand out as having the potential to actually run away with the league

We moved the ball around nicely in areas of the pitch that don't hurt the opposition and where the opposition let you have the ball, which with respect means bugger all in terms of winning games of football. We created next to nothing at the business end of the pitch in the entire game, particularly second half when I can't remember a single effort on target, hence my comment about Daniels in my earlier post.

This type of toothless display from Town happens all too frequently, is what is so depressing for our long suffering home support and why we have now lost 16 League 1 home games in the last 13 months.

Scunthorpe certainly had luck on their side today, they were surprisingly very poor considering what I was expecting pre game.

Since returning to League One, games which we dominate possession are few and far between, we soak up pressure and try to counter attack. I expected the same today but it wasn't the case, we kept the ball far better then Scunthorpe who were well below the likes of MK Dons, Charlton etc who've out passed us previously.

But, with that possession we created little, or perhaps even nothing. Neither keeper had a save to make, and where I will commend Scunthorpe is their defence who stood up to everything we could throw at them both in the air and on the deck, we never really looked like scoring despite possession.

Although Scunthorpe lacked any quality going forwards today, they did one thing which we can't do, and that's manage a game correctly. Despite not being at their best they defended well, took plenty of time with their set pieces and knew how to play the ref with winning free kicks, we don't seem to have the composure to see games out, nor the nouse and guile to see a game through, whether its going to the ground too easily or knowing when to defend and when to attack, we don't do it, we don't see games through.

That was a terrible game. Neither side looked like they could be bothered.

In the concourse at half time
"Who scored for us - was it Mirfin?"
"Yeah, looks like it"
"must be a mistake, he normally does it at the other end"

Ffs, probably someone who has wet dreams about Crosby and Byrne making a comeback.

Compare with the Salop Fans I had a good before/post chat with and gave directions(I decided to walk from the town and back). Nice one.

What was that Family Guy-esque collapse by Ryan McGivern, in front of the dugouts, about though? Looked weird.

I can understand why he was booked, he was injured and wanted play to be stopped as he was out of position so rolled onto the pitch to force the ref into a decision, but when he went down initially he was clearly hurt and if the ref had officiated the game in a safe and proper manner he would have stopped play in the first place. He was certainly one of those refs who wanted to be centre of attention, just wouldn't let the game flow, gave free kicks instead of advantage and gave every bit of contact as a free kick, he was the most frustrating part of the game.
