On Sky on the same night as Shrews v Man U. Nowt else to say about that !
We've had some almighty battles over the last few seasons and I can understand why Southend fans don't like us very much. Maybe there is some grudging respect from some though.
Yet another tough game and I'm sure it will be close, wouldn't like to predict it but hope we come back with at least a point.
Whilst we have done exceptionally well this season after promotion so too have Phil tango Brown's team and they could also do back to back promotions sneaking in under the radar.
Both teams need a good result, Shrimpers after a couple of defeats to reignite the push for a play off spot and us to retain our advantage at the top of the table.

Sorry to hijack lads but whats the situation with Matt Palmer Burton fans???? out of contract in the summer so I believe. Cracking player and one every fan wants us to keep hold of.

Will be delighted with a point myself. With regards to Matty Palmer, nobody knows, he could finish the season with you or depending if we get someone in on loan he could come back to the Albion. Its all a bit complicated with us not sure of what division will be in next season plus other factors such as contracts, players age and so on.. Rate him very highly myself and hope he stays at the Pirelli. He hasn't played much as we struggle to fit him in to the system we play.

Top lad is young Matty
I can see Clough letting him go to be honest, I'd love to keep him here but he doesn't seem to figure in Clough's plans

Back to the thread, Burton to win by the odd goal tonight and the tanned one will hopefully blow another gasket

My gut feeling is that you are right about young Matty.
By the way Burton-on-Trent is in Staffordshire not Derbyshire as stated in the Leigh on sea Shrimpers blog !

Much as I hate to admit it I think you have to give tango man the credit for getting his tactics spot on tonight.

We're still the team to catch, we will bounce back from this I'm sure
A few positives being we had more possession, more corners and more shots even though we lost 3-1 !!

Good performance. 3 good points against a good side. All counts for nothing if we go and lose to Port Vale on Friday. Need a win to put pressure on Cov and Millwall

Good win for Southend last night, doing surprisingly well this season and if they can improve with a bit more consistency they could definitely be a surprise package for the play offs.

Burton have been a bit iffy lately but if this is their bad patch through the season it's not been terrible as they've still won a few in between defeats. Quite a big opportunity missed last night to make some serious ground on the teams chasing them.
