What's not to look forward to? A wet and windy night in a run down seaside resort with a bald git in red to shower with abuse (Ellison can still manage 2 matches in 4 days can't he?) and a new manager with a 100% record of defeats (home and away). That said they are only offering 5-1 for the Corrminator to score - which is significantly better odds than the 8-1 offered for Liam to open his account this season.

In a perverse way, I'm actually looking forward to this one. Having given up thoughts of anything better than mid-table consolidation and being a patient type, starved of live football through October, I travel in hope of seeing progress from a team that will include a few playing for their futures at the club. The chance to see Ryan Ledson again should also be worth the entry fee ;).

If I dwell on the likely midfield/defence/keeper combinations, I'll only depress myself - so here's hoping that we can field a right back and that Gaffney gets a run out supporting Corr.

2-1 to the U's would be a nice dream but a home win seems most likely. I hope that we're playing with the gale behind us in the second half.

A big well done to any U that makes this journey, especially with the run we're currently on.

Anyway, think we'll win this.

I am thoroughly looking forward to tomorrow night, mostly because once I set off I won't have to be back at work until Monday, but I think we've got a good chance, hopefully the progress we showed on Saturday can continue and we can cut out the individual errors. Beasant in goal is a must, think the rest deals with itself.

Looks like it'll be relatively windy tomorrow night, but at least the temperature won't be quite as low as it has been the last few days so hopefully we'll all get out alive. It will certainly be a lot warmer when I'm in Barcelona 24 hours later. :cool1:

2-1 U's.

Morecambe will be tough, just like it always is, but I think we won't come away empty handed. Obviously we all would like the 3 points but I think this game is still a little too soon for Derry, so I'll be happy with a point, especially now that I've erased all thoughts of a play off push from my mind. The match after this one is a different thing altogether however, as I won't be happy with anything less than 3 points at home to County.

Apparently Beasant will be getting his chance, and I really hope he takes it. Me personally I don't think he's better than Dunn, as both make mistakes(only of a different nature), but I would love it if I he proves me wrong. Would also like to see Williamson keep his place, as I rather liked the look of him in the Stanley match, although he looked a bit tired after 70 or so mins, but I reckon he will only improve with more games under his belt. But please Mr Shaun Derry, pick Gaffney when you want to make a sub not Slew, as the only thing he's capable of is stealing a wage.

1-1 with 197 slightly crazy U's in attendance. Kudos to all who make the trip

Are you seeing a game? I'm going in January and am rather pleased Sir Lionel is returning to fitness. Great city in any case.

I'm not going to our game by virtue of it being fucking miles away on a Tuesday night and having no holiday left. Looks like it's going to be a westerly wind which should whip nicely off the Irish Sea and will likely mean we fail to deal with it, as with the way we coped with the wind in our last two games.

As for the game, I'd love us not to lose just to break the run and get Derry off the mark. I have a funny feeling we might win tomorrow night but then I also think we could get stuffed. :-D

Yeah but not in Barcelona, I have friends from Vienna so I'm going down the coast on Thursday to see Rapid against Villarreal. Been to the Nou Camp but not seen a game, bit too touristy for my liking but it's something you've got to do at some point in your life.

Don't forget the other Barcelona based clubs guys, and not just Espanyol. When my mates were over there last year, they didn't get the chance to see Barca play but they went to some second and third division matches instead.

That was bloody marvellous. Attacking, in their faces, cutting lines of play up, and some end product too. Ruddy brilliant show chaps.

My forecasting was up to the usual standard. A balmy evening with a modest breeze, that was in our favour in the second half. Most of the rain seemed to be falling on Cheshire (and Accrington) on the way up. Pleasant journey back today, having stocked up with pies for the freezer.

Corr and Gaffney were on the bench and we'd found a right back down the back of Oxford's sofa on Sunday so we signed him and he scored on debut,

We were excellent, with a few minor lapses, from start to finish of both halves. No one had a bad game. Despite comments elsewhere, Beasant's rapport with the defence and his kicking were fine and he made one brilliant 1 on 1 save. Leon Legge was massive, with commanding headers and providing the leadership for the defence. Roberts did the simple things well and didn't do much wrong - although it sounds like he only played because Kennedy "went missing (was ill/injured??) in the hotel."

With no Corr up front, 4231 worked brilliantly. The midfield was buzzing and some of the passing had me purring. We delayed any lumps forward that were played until the 3 could get up to support Williamson - so we won a lot of 2nd balls as well. Morecambe struggled to get the ball off us in midfield - although they regularly got close enough to kick us, especially Dunk of course. I think all of their 6 yellow cards were for fouls. Ledson confirmed that he can look after himself and team mates - although he'll need to be more subtle if he wants to avoid too many cards. Can we afford to play him and Newton in front of the defence at the Abbey as well or do we need to play 2 up front and pair him with Berry in a 442?

Free entry (for buying a decent £3 programme), beer at £2/pint, a warm welcome in the supporters club bar and the best pies in the league - my only disappointment was that the bald git gave us no reason to heap abuse on him and his presence went largely unnoticed.

Tbf, Llama has a point, even though his comment was posted at the wrong time ;) Morecambe's last 7 home matches, including yesterdays were the following - 2-4 vs N'pton, 1-3 vs Luton, 3-4 vs Rovers, an out of character 3-1 win vs Crawley, 0-1 vs Orient, 2-4 vs Daggers and another 2-4 last night. That's 1 win and 6 defeats, and a massive 21 goals conceded.

While I'm obviously happy with last night, especially with the way the boys performed, I think Morecambe's recent poor home form played a big part in yesterday's result.

True - that was one of my reasons to feel positive before last night, combined with fact that we also seem to be more effective away from the Abbey. Both of us are in our relatively comfortable positions because of our away form - U's 3 losses in 10 and Shrimps 2 losses in 9. We've both only won 3 from 9 at home in the league.

Luckily, I think we are on the up (on and off the pitch) whilst they will struggle to generate more income. The fans I spoke to were looking enviously at our FA Cup money and the fact that we're still in the cup.

Great result and sounded like a good performance. We were due an uplifting night. Now to carry that on to Saturday. Though I will be going so could all end in tears. ;-)
