Sanchez works his ass off and scores goals + assists. Can you say the same about the Burnley players? Do you see what i'm getting at ?

And Fabregas has regressed after Christmas, as he always does, one goal in one game against QPR doesn't really change that fact.

The point is Fabregas has played a huge role in Chelsea's title win this season, a huge improvement on last season. Has Arsenal's position improved significantly compared to last season dude to the addition of Alexis Sanchez?

Edit: Sanchez has also been on a 12 game run in the second half of the season with only one goal and one assist.

How was that the point you were trying to make with your previous post? you're talking about something entirely different here.

@Edit: Also? I've already mentioned the dip in form Sanchez went through, and that's me being extremely harsh because he was still excellent for the most part in that period because of the energy and fight he brings to the team, and despite only scoring once in 12 games, he still has 22 goals to his name.

Ask any respectable Chelsea fan and they'll tell you Fabregas was terrible against QPR and he's been hot and cold throughout the last several months and barley has an assist to his name in the second half of the season.

Don't reply to SweScouser. He's just finding a new way to deal with his Liverpool despondence that doesn't involve copy-pasting Twitter (non) rumours.

Cesc and Alexis are both world class footballers—Cesc should clearly have been on the PFA shortlist before Coutinho—for which their respective clubs have improved.

Yes, and despite barely having any assist to his name in second half of the season Fabregas has assisted 18 times this season. On top of that he has led his team to win the title. Any burnley player could have brought that "energy and fight" into the team during his 12 game dip in form.

Always difficult to say because what exactly are the requirements for a signing of the season? Would you say the big money spent on Fabregas or Costa to win Chelsea the title from a 3rd place finish last season is a better signing than someone like Sanchez, who cost similar money and got Arsenal the same number of places higher up the table (4th to 2nd)?

For me it's who has made the biggest impact on a team for the least amount of money. So for me I'm looking towards Southampton. With the personnel they lost last season they were a strong bet to fall down the table, but they've improved on it to the point they were actual contenders for Champions League football. They made a few good signings, I think Tadic and Pelle were definitely the main 2 in the first half of the season, but personally I'd say overall and so far, it's probably someone like Ryan Bertrand, or Fraser Forster, players who have helped Southampton keep the best defensive record in the league so far. I'd be tempted to say Alderweireld, but seeing as he was a loan and hasn't yet been bought fully (like Bertrand has), I'm more inclined to the other 2.

As with the above post, requirements for me are which signing has shone relative to, and considering, the fee paid for him. As such I'd find it hard to pick a player who's cost £30m unless they've truly transformed the team, been outstanding throughout, and be deemed great value despite that fee. Of those higher-priced players probably Sanchez sticks out.

Alderweireld would be up there give he was something like £6m (above Forster and Bertrand given they both cost almost double that), Cresswell was a steal at £3m as was Sakho at £3.5m. Even Zaha at £3m has had a good season, especially since Pardew came back. I know he was a Jan signing, but Jack Cork at £3m seems like a bargain too.

Frank Lampard, even if he's bit part and costs a bunch on wages, could be included in the discussion, Ospina too.

Somebody speaking sense....

I'd agree with Alderweireld and Sakho as signings of the season due to their relative cheapness compared to the success they've had at each club.

Hadn't the slightest that Cresswell was a new signing. He certainly merits contention in this. £3m looks a bargain.

Thought Alderweireld was only a loan signing?

Loan, made permanent during the season for the agreed £6m or so. I think... :)

I wish.. A.Madrid will be paying us a fee to cancel that agreed fee.
