Sir Wayne Rooney ?

Should Wayne Rooney be Sir Wayne Rooney

  • Yes he is the greatest striker England has had and should be rewarded

  • No he's just a fat lad who happened to score more than everyone else by chance

  • I don't care, I just like voting in polls.

Most definitely. Scoring 2 international goals more than Gary Lineker in an additional 27 games whilst scoring an awe inspiring 2 goals in the last four Euro and World cup finals fully deserves recognition. His efforts for Help The Aged also deserve credit.

Sir Wayne, step forward.

They were talking about a statue for Rooney last night.

Can you imagine asking a sculptor to create something so ugly?

If you take away his penalties and all of his goals scored against countries who field police officers and school teachers as international footballers, then yeh he probably has 20-30 goals.

He certainly deserves a knighthood for his services to sport...

He has 100% record for penalties why wouldn't you let him take them ?

Compare that to say erm.......Shearer who has a measly 85% record.

People have gotten it for less. Being England's all time top goal scorer is a wonderful achievement. Plus he's been associated to United for a long time which always helps, the establishment love United and rightly so, they've given this country so much. Sir Wayne certainly has a ring to it.

Only Charlton and Alf are worthy of one. Rooney won't get a statue for United where he looks set to break our scoring record.

Like bollocks should he, I could score a decent amount popped up front against the likes of Andorra and San Marino (5 of his goals have come Vs the mighty San Marino). He can have a knighthood if he wins us the Euros/World Cup (extremely unlikely, though Europe looks quite weak at the moment tbh, but tournament time is a different animal).

By my reckoning only four footballers* actually have knighthoods (Matthews, Finney, Charlton and Hurst). I don't think he really belongs in such exalted company.

*obviously discounting those who played the game like Brooking and Robson, but whose accolade owed more to their non-playing career

I don't understand that argument that he scores against poor teams. So what? He still scores goals. Charlton didn't score all of his goals against five star teams did he?

Well he tried to make out Rooney only scores against shit teams and most of them are penalties. We carried out some research and found Shearer actually scored most of his goals against lower half teams in Prem and 67 of his goals were penalties.

Basically he was made to look a muppet on the internet.

Shearer has scored more pens (3 x more) than Rooney............simple, your arguments have been blown out the water numerous times by numerous posters.

This sitting at home watching Sky Sports has warped your brain.

Google doesn't know everything !

Some rambling shite not worth reading

It would appear you need your hand holding as to the meaning of my previous post. Should I really be surprised by this? Probably not.

Anyway, put simply, please show me where I have said:-

a) Rooney only scores against shit teams.
b) Most of his goals are penalties.

I see Rooney is in the papers talking about using this game to end his league goal drought. Best hope they get a penalty then, it appears to be the only way he can find the net these days.
