We probably won't even flirt with promotion and just be disappointing all season

I doubt it this year. Your squad is far better than any other this year.

If Derby don't go up this year it would be an absolute embarrassment.

I don't buy that you haven't spent any money in the past either. Just because you haven't spent any transfer fees doesn't mean that you haven't spent a lot in wages, which you have.

I also don't think that Derby spending money is wrong at all. Clubs choose to invest at different times and if it all goes tits up for Derby then so be it. Otherwise it they do well it's not just because they spent some money this window but also because they had a very good base to build upon.

A lot of people will say we have spent a lot. Last year our transfers were covered by selling Forshaw, and while we have spent money above that this year, we will still have one of the smallest playing budgets in the league. Would still be a massive achievement to finish Top 8 again, let alone reaching the play offs.

Yep, and us Colin Kazim-Richards (who was subsequently known as the Coca Cola kid). Both turned out extremely well..

Coca-Cola love the double barrells.

Deary me. That's poor.

Random or not, shitty message being sent out as Derby are probably the most irresponsible side in the league now aside from QPR.

Wanted it to go to Carlisle or Newport.

You've spent well beyond your means in terms of money you bring in. Wealthy owners or not.

If my hunch that you will underperform under Clement this season materialises things will be interesting for your lot next season.

See this is my dilemma: Do I listen to you, who predicts we're on the road to financial ruin, or our chairman, CEO and board of investors, who say we're comfortably living within the FFP guidelines and won't break them because punishments may be more severe in the future, i.e. points deductions.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but it just comes across as bitter. Every football fan in the country apparently knows more than the people running our club, people, who may I add, campaigned for the FFP in the first place.

It's also worth noting that our entire debt to our owners was turned into equity. We're effectively debt free, whereas your club still owes your owner nearly £100m according to the 2014 accounts.

My own personal feelings is that the guys running our club, who as I said championed FFP and includes a high profile sports lawyer, know what they're doing. If they say that they're all working above board and running a tight ship then I'm going to believe them.

Wow, what a hot bed of love for Derby this thread is. Talk about bitter.
Whats amazing is how apparently, everyone else knows more about the club than our actual owners. We were a big advocate of FFP in the first place. We have been fantastically run for the last few years, both financially and commercially. We now have a new wealthy investor and chairman who is both local and a supporter, and we still say for certain that we are on course for the new relaxed FFP regs. That is good enough for me until proven otherwise.
I can handle the jealousy and bitterness, but please don't compare us to clubs who have spent irresponsibly because they believe FFP is not enforceable, therefore cannot be touched. That is not us.
My opinion on competition, utter bollocks. Should have been distributed evenly to grass roots football in the area rather than the club.

You say that but how many football clubs down the line have said they are well ran financially stable clubs in the past and then turn out a few months later with transfer embargoes, and to an extent point deductions...

I'm curious to see what happens at Derby in the near future, I'm sure some of the comments on this thread will be revisited then.

Completely agree with BCFC Jordan on this one. Why the fuck give it to clubs who don't need it? As for Derby this season really is win or bust. Not saying they will go bust, just saying things will go down hill if they don't go up.

I think it would be a failure this season if we didn't get promotion because of the money spent BUT it wouldn't be the first time it's happened. Sam Rush also said that it isn't the end of the world if we didn't.

Last season was the first time in ages we spent any sort of money and that was on Thorne and was a direct payment based on the play off money we received. Loans like bent and Ince would have cost s few bob but the TV appearances we got would have helped that.
