Not enough for Torquay there. Think that almost gets Sutton up given their huge GD advantage.

Not really - a lot of teams train on 3G or 4G pitches these days. We won at Bromley last season, Drew at Sutton (we were 2-0 up) and our match at Harrogate fell foul of covid.
Passing teams do ok on them, but teams of 6' brick shitthouses that kick lumps out of the opposition do struggle on them.
I remember for Rovers, certain players; Steve McNulty comes to mind, couldn't play on plastic pitches due to previous issues, so it did give the home team an advantage forcing us to change our preferred line-up. Our record on them wasn't too bad though.

Only caught the last twenty minutes or so, looked a decent game but both sides and particularly Torquay fluffed some decent chances, while some great last-ditch defending.

yeah there are players like that - but for every McNulty there is also a Scott Quigley - who scored for fun on 4G (probably because he used to play for TNS who had one)

and Sutton play Barnet in their last match (Barnet GD -54)
We've still got to play Barnet as well though. Nice little 5-0 for us next week coupled with Sutton losing to Hartlepool and we're top on goals scored going into the final game (we're away to Alty). Unlikely but I'm clinging to any straws I can find.

i would as well - just make sure you beat Stockport in the play off final if you don't win the league though.....

Most teams actually avoid training on 3G/4G don't they? It's usually only there as an all weather pitch so there's at least one pitch to train on as a last resort.

We had to train on it a lot this season, which did for Nicky Ajose. A pitch that's used every day soon cuts up in Winter

Yeah, it’s a last resort thing for a professional football club.

Sutton can wrap up the title with a win against Hartlepool today. A draw would also mean they are likely promoted.

Well it’s official now. I think it’s fair to say that by size of club we’ll be the smallest in the league and our ground is very non-league. And Sutton is boring suburbia. You’ll love it

Will this be our first meeting?

Looking forward to the away day, Sutton is pretty close to me atm so I'm delighted you've come up after losing Wycombe, Charlton, Gillingham, MK Dons & Wimbledon in L1

I remember a random friendly 20 years ago between Sutton and Rovers.
