Just at the middle of S4 currently. The only TV show that I've ever seen get better and better as time and series go on (other than Breaking Bad). Is anybody else watching it currently (I believe Dave Vale is) - if not who has seen it and some overall opinions? Favourite characters?

PS - Maggie Siff.

I finished it last month. Always felt that all the seasons went the same way. They started slowly and just as I got to the point where I was thinking that it was going downhill something would happen that would drag me straight back in and I'd watch 6 episodes in a row. Definitely think it ended at the right, even if that is just because the body count in each season is so high that they were running out of characters.

This shite doesn't deserve it's own thread. Watched the first 3 seasons then naaahhhhh no thankyou. The idea that it gets better as it goes on is frankly laughable - it basically had 2 seasons and then just tailed off into complete lunacy. Although I was informed it picked up again a bit around Season 6 but I'm not willing to go that far to find out.

Ravenbish with an outlandish opinion shocker. It's a perfectly good programme and you are the first person I've heard from on the internet who doesn't A) Say it gets better with time and B) Become a very, very good show. Pull yourself together. Catch up with Caffrey or something. Then refresh yourself and post again. EITHER THAT OR I'LL DROP THE HAMMER ON YOU.

Oh I'm definitely fucking not. Pretty much everyone says it gets utterly ridiculous as it goes on. I really liked the characters in fairness but the plot was just appalling as was the writing.

White Collar's finished for good too so don't open that wound.

It does get utterly ridiculous as it goes on and I think that is the line between liking it and disliking it. If you can get over that then it's fantastic but I can certainly see how it is not for everyone.

Some people might say it's a good show, but even more are of the opinion that, besides a solid couple of seasons, it is isn't very good. I think critics' consensus reflects that too.

Didn't you used to really like Sons of Anarchy?

I watched the first two series and they were both really fucking terrible.

I liked it, as I said further up the premise was cool and you get taken in with the general badass-ery, I was kinda ok with the nonsensical plot and handled all of it with 'ay it's TV, I'm not going to get all pissy about it being silly' but the season finale where his kid gets kidnapped by an IRA member via speedboat, I thought nah fuck this, whoever writes this shit is a mentalist and it's only going one way...and by all accounts I was correct.

Personally, I couldn't give a shit if it's realistic or not, it's entertaining and twisty. Plus, the main focus of enjoyment for me is the character development. The storyline can be pretty shoddy, but you don't need a masterful plot to enjoy what unfolds from episode to episode with the individuals.

I swear you can't read sometimes. Realism clearly doesn't arse most of us, hence why everyone enjoyed Breaking Bad and Dexter (up until it suffered from the same thing) and Prison Break etc...but when it gets so offensive and ridiculous that it shrouds everything else, it doesn't work. There was no character development because the writers were too busy writing a show as if they were a bunch of 13 year old boys.

It's the most horrific attempt of making bad guys look like good guys I've ever seen. Everything the show is about goes against the fact they're trying to make them some sort of vigilante police force who are just protecting people and then eventually just went 'ah shit, we've gone too far haven't we? Ah fuck it they're not redeemable anymore - but we'll keep the same storylines!'. Sutter was an idiot really who ruined a perfectly good show by trying to shoehorn in as many 'gotcha!' moments as possible to the point that the whole thing was a write-off. You talk about character development but it got to a point where there was none simply because characters didn't actually do anything they'd actually do because Sutter had decided they were going to be involved in a twist or big shocking finale. There's one obvious example but I won't ruin it as I don't know when it actually happened and won't spoil it for you in case you've not got that far.

You watch things through a different set of eyes clearly. I'm only in Season 4, but everyone of them has got more enjoyable so far, I don't tend to think about the writing or theory behind a specific storyline/scene/episode (Suppose you could say I'm a lazy watcher). If something unfolds infront of my eyes and I enjoy it or am not offended/bored by it, then I can kind of live with it, even if it goes against what they are meant to be etc. We just have differing opinions on TV. I'm enjoying this series of TM, you aren't. I didn't like the show Caffrey was in, you preferred it to TM.

You weren't keen on 24, I loved it. Same with Prison Break and so on.

Where's Stoich? We need him back so you can get your weekly internet arguement out the way ;)

I liked Prison Break  and I like this season of The Mentalist (latest episode was great, it's not been very good overall but I've still watched and liked it, would have stopped watching if I didn't).

You've kind of missed the point again though. I'm not saying you can't enjoy something, clearly lots of people like it hence why it went on for so long but further up you were arguing for it in a completely different tone than just 'I like it'.

Well yeah, I like it - in my opinion it's very good entertainment, one of the best shows of it's type and is amongst my favourite series that I've seen so far. I've just caught up to episode 9, where Jane calls his ex circus gang in. I've already been spoilered as to what happens in the next episode. Don't like that one bit, she's rather tasty.

RB has a point here. I actually didn't enjoy S4 all that much. They just didn't stay still for one single minute and I hated how the entire group basically ripped itself up from the inside out. I preferred at least some harmony and getting on with each other. S5 has started well again though so I'm going to 100% stick with it until the end.

I'm at the beginning of season 3 myself and find alot of the OTT grand theft auto'ish plots & dialogues quite entertaining - as long as it doesn't get rinsed to the point it begins to all feel a lil farcical.

I thought the first 2 series were great though. Really, really hoping it doesn't go as bad as some of the viewers made out.

Thought it was an excellent show, devastated by how it ended but no spoilers. The Northern Irish accents are truly dreadful in it though, it's pretty hilarious.

Season 3 is excellent, personally I wasn't overally keen on S4, but so far Season 5 has been excellent. It's just easy viewing entertainment, violence, guns, swearing, girls etc. If you expect a masterpiece with rivetting writing, it won't be the programme for you. From what I've read online people thought it got ridicolous, but most of it's following enjoyed it and thought it got to it's best right at the end, something you can't say about much.

It's a very good show.

The thing I don't understand is that for a programme of this nature the sex side of it is moderately tame. The tits to jaxs ass ratio is verynlow

About half way through last series. But struggling to get a good stream.nhurry up Netflix and sort it
