I switched the stream off after Joe Allen's disallowed goal (I know, I know) and Shane Long was giving Lovren the run around each time he got the ball (Which wasn't often, but he got a debatable penalty shout and Lovren booked) . So Lovren or Skrtel wouldn't have made a lot of difference seeing as though Lovren would have had to be careful when challenging for the ball. Plus him being Lovren and the history between him and the club, it wouldn't have been unwise to say that he could have lost his head during the match, so 10 men would have had a bigger impact on Liverpool than bringing Skrtel on.

We probably would've been better with 10 men to be fair, judging by the Palace away game and the formation. The difference was the subs at half time for both teams. Wanyama closed those gaps which we found easily on the counter in the first half and Mane added pace and a goal scoring threat which other than a couple of Long runs we easily handled the hoof ball from the first half. 2ND half though Koeman got it spot on, and Sakho looked lost playing with Skrtel who was terrible himself. Out of position, throwing himself about etc. We'd of benefitted from bringing Toure on.

I've long called for a nice stable partnership of Lucas and Toure until the end of the season when you can buy some actual defenders, but my view has fallen on deaf ears.

Perhaps letting in 6 over 2 legs to Dortmund will finally see the penny drop.

Lucas done a good job when called upon and Toure has been in good form, but that's because as a whole we've been in good form. Lovren and Sakho have formed a very good partnership and Sakho completely bossed it against United away and the first half yesterday. Since Skrtel had been injured our defence has been good. We did miss Milner yesterday.. 4th is pretty much gone now so we can focus of Dortmund. At least Klopp knows them well so will know their strengths and weaknesses it's still a tough ask to beat them. I just hope the tie isn't over when we bring them back to Anfield as I'd fancy our chances at Anfield.
