Much needed win for Southampton, thought the result on Thursday night might kick start their season and it seems to have done that especially for Charlie Austin. Disappointing afternoon for Swansea City.
We are so wasteful in front of goal. Redmond showing he is no more than a Championship standard player and it's worrying that he seems to be our first choice striker.
Not really fair on Redmond, he's not a striker. Lots of players have been moved into that role and it's not worked out, but it doesn't stop them being good in their preferred position.
Don't get Austin on the bench with Redmond up front though whilst having Romeu, Clasie and Davies in the midfield at home. Surely 2 from those 3 with Redmond and Tadic on the wings and Austin and Long up front is a more potent option.
I can't understand the reasoning for playing Redmond up top, he's not really been prolific from a wide position so why Puel's experimenting with it I don't know. Play him out wide and leave Austin and Long to fight it out up top, a striker is probably going to be on Saint's January wish list.
