I'd be surprised if it was. One Pre- requisite was having managerial experience in this league and I would hardly call 17 games at Chelmsford City in the NLS meeting that.

Wonder when he'll get his testimonial?
If it is him it doesn't strike me as a choice that meets much of the criteria set out. Seems like a name to appease fans more than anything and someone already used to working under the constraints of Ron and his lack of paying people.

Yeah I’m not a fan of it. I wanted someone new with no previous ties to the club. Apparently, he really impressed in his interview..

Kevin Maher was the most sideways playing footballer I’ve ever seen, what’s he been doing up till now?

He may turn out to be great but after all noise about the recruitment process it seems totally underwhelming.

Been at Bristol Rovers as assistant/coach since Coughlan went there I believe

Slightly so but it’s not like the names at the top of the list in Currie and Smith were really getting the juices going either. Maybe I’m just numb to being underwhelmed now I just don’t feel it

They have both do well at this level in recent times.

Not a chance, person we are after and will announce tomorrow or A.M. Thursday is currently employed by an EFL club. We have a zoom meeting with Stan all SUFC supporters invited, at 7pm on Thursday, ready for new management team in place for Daggers on Saturday.

Betting is now suspended too.

I mean, you never know, but a guy whose only experience as a manager is a couple of caretaker spells and a couple of months at Chelmsford City doesn’t exactly feel like what Southend need right now. If Smith and Currie wanted it, that is a brave, and probably stupid, move.

Seems Maher is being appointed head coach there also is going to be an assistant and a first team coach. There is a whole new management structure put in place and would assume Stan willl be a director of football. He certainly knows how to get the fans onside and fans are backing him. Weve had a long list of failing managers now so hopefully with this new structure in place we can start to turn it around. There certainly seems to be a lot going on. One thing I am liking what Stan is saying is we aren’t looking for a ‘messiah’ manager to come in and turn it around on their own they’re putting new infrastructure to build a platform for success. This club has not had any structure in it for a long time so I would say it is positive

"I've been overwhelmed by how many people in the game have called me, emailed or text saying "Good luck big fella, Southend is a great club, hope they're back soon "

None would need to say that if they didn't mean it.

I've had Southend supporting scouts who currently work for Premier League clubs going to Wealdstone last week in order to send me a free full scouting report which I passed on to technical staff Saturday night.

That's how loved YOUR club is, that's how much people want to see the club back in the league.

And you should all be very proud that your club is viewed that way!"

Why Wealdstone? they are not alone, all the teams in the NL are being scouted and reports filed for the new management team over the coming weeks.

Zoom call Thursday night is gonna be a cracker. Stan has also stressed this is about putting all in place, no quick fix miracles. so we lose on Saturday at Daggers lol.

Unless Ron has found some investment and is taking a massive, massive step backwards then all of this is just more lovely words. What happens when Ron stops paying people again, because he will. What happens when one of the new club structure get so fed up of him that they leave, because again, that's very likely to happen.
I'm all for a new structure and some kind of semblance of a game plan for the club but while we have Ron in charge trying to pay bills I don't think any of it matters in the short or long term.
As I've said before, all this feels like Ron going along with it to halt the protests, to appease the fans, where is the actual long term vision of delivering a sustainable football club that can always pay its PAYE, that always pays it's local contractors, that always pays its employees?

Yeah you’d have to very naive to think the trio of Maher, Collymore and Martin is going to succeed.

It won't be three. The structure will be I believe (and this is all conjecture atm until the announcement later today:

Head Coach - strongly linked to Maher
Assistant H. C. - Steve Tilson / Mark Beard linked
1st Team Coach - Mark Beard / tbc
Head of recruitment - tbc
Head of Football Operations - Stan strongly linked and hope for as this was the position offered in the Summer that PB vetoed.
Head of Scouting - TBC

Coupled with Tom Lawrence, our CEO who joined the club in the summer and is already making a difference.

This, as it has been updated several times on Shrimperzone by Stan is not just an appointment of a new manager. It is a total restructure of the club and roles. It has been fully supported by Ron over the past fortnight and he is, we are being told, fully on board with it.

Kevin Maher, if he is appointed will have full support of that structure. and managed our U23 side for 4 years before branching out to widen his career and is very well thought of at Bristol Rovers.

This is also NOT being viewed a s a quick fix, but hopefully we should see improvements over this season and moving forward from there.

The planning permission for out new ground (Rolls eyes), goes before SBC on the 25th, with a recommendation for it to be passed by the officers..

Updates hopefully later today, but definitely before the zoom call at 7pm tomorrow evening.

So it's far more than naively thing it's just Maher, Stan and Ron!

Is anyone else skim reading this thread and confused about whether this Colinmorriswalksonwater person is actually Ron or not?

I promise you I am an ordinary fan and nothing to do with the club and Hold Ron Martin's last 5 years in charge in total disdain.
