We have to see if the National League would even accept us into the league with Ron Martin's chronic habit of not paying off debts to the HMRC on time

the inevitable finally happened. We're here as one of those shit state basket cases, so I fully look forward to the ensuing relegation battle. If Dover can not bother again with next season that'd be handy. I do worry Kings Lynn and Weymouth will have to much for us though.

With a 12pt deduction, part time players & small budget you will do well to finish below us

Could it end up in a situation where the National League refuses to accept them?? I can't imagine they will be happy at the prospect of their constant court appearances/winding up orders.

What are the rules on being accepted?

All jokes aside what that guy Martin has done to Southend is a joke, decent sized club should be at league one level comfortably. Makes you wonder what the fit and proper owner test is about in the football league, must include running clubs into the ground as it happens season after season.

A club of that size with a decent manager will get you up, Peter Taylor lives local I’d be afraid if he knows Martin.

Welcome Southend. This league really isn’t as bad as you might fear - some decent, proper away days and some good away followings (there’s also some dreadful places like Borehamwood but you’ll find out about that in due course).
We were in a similar position to you when we came down, the club was in tatters and we ended going into administration and taking a -10 but survived on the penultimate game. So as long as you don’t go into administration, i assume you’ll be accepted.
I wouldn’t be fearful of relegation to be honest, there’s some good teams in this league but there’s also some proper dross too, and with the league only having 23 (including Dover who are almost certainly going down next season), there’s only 2 relegation spots which I expect to be occupied by Woking and Wealdstone.
Enjoy the ride, but hope you don’t stay for too long (such as ourselves and Wrexham) because after a few years it really does become a horrible league to get out of.

Has any 'traditional league teams just come down because they are rubbish? It seems like for years having a terrible owner is the overriding reason.

And I dont see the NL refusing entry on the basis of a dodgy owner, they don't care. The only issue that would bar entry is imminent financial collapse that would mean you are unlikely to finish a season (and even then they don't care if you are on the board, a la Dover)

There’s some irony- East Bank Shot’s avatar is none other than Mark Molesley, ( celebrating scoring the winner at Fratton Park).
Pity you sacked that guy, he has a good working knowledge of non-league. Ah well..

It really isn't. Lovely that he has a good working knowledge of the National South but with (fingers crossed) supporters being allowed to watch next season I don't think I could have taken viewing his bizarre tactics, non attacking, shit tika taka in the flesh.

They let us in even though we basically were collapsing financially at the time and didn’t get taken over until a couple of days before the season started. Obviously things aren’t great at Southend, but I don’t think they’re quite in the state of complete chaos that we were, so they should be fine getting in.
