No Anthony Joshua is a joke, the guy has been dominant, considering Tyson Fury came 4th last year.

My only hope is that Andy Murray goes on a racist, homophobic, Barry Bennell loving rant.

It's really not, he's not beaten anyone of note. Carl Frampton on the other hand has unified the titles at bantamweight before going on to win at the weight above.

Come on, I'm a big AJ fan but the guy fights binmen

Edit: Beat to the punch, so to speak.

Can't see past Murray also can't believe that Chris Froome didn't make the list considering how many Cyclists made that list.

No surprise Murray won again, and its hard to say he didn't deserve it. Kind of boring that he's won it three of the last four years though.

The question I'd ask is why doesn't Farah come higher....

Because he wasn't born here?

Maybe. But the sort of person who wouldn't vote for Farah because he is Somalian-born are probably the same sort of people who wouldn't vote for Murray because he's a bit too Scottish. If anything what might do it for Farah is that when it comes to doping he's had the unfortunate tendency of hanging with the wrong crowd.

Not being born here, his personality being a complete construct of the television media and his affiliation with proven drug cheats is what probably prevents him from challenging. On achievement he deserved top three. To put in the training required to win two golds on the bounce in something as boring as long distance running deserves plaudits.

It's a shit award in it's current guise anyway. I'm not even sure what it's supposed to represent as sporting achievement & actual personality do not seem to be prerequisites to win it so you can only assume it's evolved outside the definition of it's title. Each year we have such glaring omissions you'd be an idiot to think there isn't an agenda as to the nomination process. Puppets on a panel are just that.

In an Olympic year they should have a show to themselves to remember their achievements over that year (and in other years previous), and pick the best out of them from that; as in its current guise SPOTY is too biased to the more popular televisual sports.

Personality has never been a prerequisite. 'Sports personality' just means a person who is well known for their participation in sport.

I can't bear SPOTY; it's yet another self-congratulatory BBC wankfest, much like Strictly Come Dancing. Nick Skelton? Do me a favour.

Agree Skelton was a joke, it was a sentimental vote for the course of a career. the top 3 should probably have been Murray and the Kenny's but that's what you get when you throw it open to the public.

Bit like when Giggs won I guess .

A bit of the old "sob story" to it all.

Yes very much a similar case, Giggs was an excellent candidate for the lifetime achievement award

I think the problem with the final part of the process is that the general public are uninformed, ignorant and a poor judge of specialist subjects, like sport and membership of the European Union. Am I right my brother? :bye:
