Ahh good old 2001, was a good year for current Non League teams knocking out Premier League Merseyside heavyweights in cups lol!

Happy St Yates day.

Birkenheads Everton fans went into hiding for months after this game.

To me, our best ever away result. Yes, we beat Arsenal 0-1 at Highbury, but to beat Everton on their own patch so comfortably was amazing. Back in the DHSS is right, the mere mention of this result in a local pub or function (or in my case, school) sent every Everton fan heading for the toilets/exit/wherever just to escape the conversation. Great memories from at time that isn't 'that' long ago.

I hope we never play them again, I want the memories of that day to be untainted in any way! The overriding memory was being a bit disappointed at the final whistle how easy it all was, we battered them.

It was made all the more sweet by the fact they were showcasing the plans for their new ground on the big screen before the game, clearly showing off in front of their little neighbours.

Seemingly less of a giant con to make money out of the gullible as Valentines day, so this year i will be treating my Girlfriend to a St Yates' day card (handmade so fuck you Clinton's) and will bring her back some food from the football. If she promises not to pretend to care by asking me how the match went i might even sit down with her whilst she eats it so it feels like a date.

Cheers for the heads up.
