Stags v Stanley

Accy are a bit of a 'bogey' team for us, we never seem to beat them. Not sure of the stats but I think our record against them is pretty dire. Having said that, recent form points to a solid home win. I know the run has to end sometime but there are no signs of that at the moment. 2-0 Stags.

If anyone is going to stomp on our momentum, it's Stanley, our number one bogey side.

Win this and owt could happen. However, let's not get any expectations, hey?

I remember you knocking us out of the FA Cup one year but in the League we seem to have a very good record V the Stags. However we never seem to beat Steve Evans (as much as we'd like to after things he said about us whilst at Boston) so it may be you're night on Tuesday - we're not in good form at all but I've bought my ticket so I'll be there in what I expect to be a very low away crowd...

We don't ever expect a big following from you

You always seem to find a way to beat us, I was surprised when we got the draw at your place not too long back.

We're evens, which seems a good bet.

Thinking of a Mansfield, Luton and Portsmouth triple tomorrow night.

We need to win all our games in February to stand a chance when we play everyone in the top 7 next month.

Good run to continue, I think we might make a couple of changes, we've got so much quality on the bench that i don't mind us not playing the same 11 for this game.

Green, MacDonald and Howkins might start.

3-0 stags

Reading Stagsnet you'd think we have become Real Madrid, football fans are always going to get carried away.

That being said if anybody is going to burst the bubble it's Stanley.

I think people are getting ahead of themselves, but of course we should also be entitled to believe and enjoy being on the run that we are.

IMO we've gone on a great 8 match unbeaten run and then only just got into the playoffs - and some teams below us have a game in hand on us still.

To be genuine contenders, we need to get a minimum of 7 points from the next 3 - and go from there.

The idea of the last 5 games being against teams above us while pushing for a top 7 spot is an exciting one though, should be really interesting.

Irrespective, it's a good time to be following us in general right now :)

1-3 at half time

Every time we play that ridiculous pub side they win.

Evidently got something over us somewhere!

We hadn't conceded in 5 games, Accrington scored 1 in 8 away games

Obviously they'd be 4-3 up then.

It's like some law of the universe that we shall not beat Accrington!

If we do go on to lose it could be useful grounding for the players and fans, it seems a few have been getting a little carried away

What a absolute mess of a game that was!!!

Mansfield were completely fucking terrible the whole game, Goalkeeper, Defense, Midfield and Attack were all abysmal except for tiny, tiny spells and I'm talking a few minutes. Accrington on the other hand were brilliant, winning just about every challenge in the whole game. I literally thought they were going to score every time they went forward and number 7 for them was ridiculously good.

The other side of Stanley was the non-stop fucking blatant fouls, dives, they played the officials to a tee and the officials were a complete embarrassment, although you could argue overall they were poor for both sides but decisions did overall go in favor of them. I know Evans sides are linked with stuff like that but I have yet to see anything near that sort of drama from our squad.

I must admit that when seven minutes were announced at ET I just wanted the game to end and take the draw, because it almost seemed inevitable they would bag again.

Have you ever walked the dog past the park on a Sunday morning?

When the defences look like it was a heavy night at Trev's stag-night?
When the goalies pull off a miracle, and then drop one in their own net?
When the ref is a total narcissist and is still reeling from his wife, of 20 years, running off with the bin man?
When players are tripping over shadows and falling over potholes?
When the coaches of both sides threaten to get their Mondeo and run over the officials?
When the linesman is wearing one team's trackie top, with his initials on it, and just can't help himself to a spot of skull-fuckery?
When there's the little lad on the wing, who looks like he should have made it, but is probably just having one of those games in a lifetime?
When miskicks and fifty pence headers outnumber the wave of obscenities?
When absolutely everybody on the side line wants to maim the opposition and the ref before they get to their cars to leave?
When even your dog looks at you and shakes his head in utter disbelief at the state of things?

Well that was Mansfield v Accrington. A 4-4 draw where quality was bludgeoned to death by everyone involved.

I know it's been acknowledged, but the irony of fans of a Steve Evans team moaning about the ref being manipulated is hilarious

So, are you suggesting that we should just accept it when there's blatant cheating against our team because our manager likes a few of his own histrionics, or seven?

Oh, okay, lesson learnt. Last night was like the Somme and it's a credit to all involved that the game finished with pulses maintained from all involved. A great advert for failing to stay on your feet, but struggling on through adversity when faced with great suffering. Bravo brave warriors.

You've got to to take it with a pinch of salt I guess. This ref was just hopeless all round, not against one team/player

The disappointing thing, from an Accrington point of view, is that they were much the better side over the ninety, although their repeated play acting let them down. I think the Stags fans would have appreciated their all round good play, if they hadn't played up for an incredibly weak referee - who clearly got his cards in a buy 1 get 9 free Valentine's offer. Footballing wise, nobody has given us that type of runaround all season. Our defence barely conceeds chances, these days, to the opposition, never mind four goals. Accrington made them look like Little Throbbington under 8's.

Tough luck Mansfield but if they are your bogey team then it was never going to be easy, getting a draw in this type of game might not be so bad.

You had to be there to believe the amount of cheating that was going on, can't remember ever seeing anything like that against the Stags before.

It's bizarre really, Accrington started to time waste at 1-0 up but it ended 4-4!!!

It's a shame because at the same time Accrington were genuinely brilliant throughout.

Their manager is a pure twat though so that's why.

It was very conference style.

Long High balls in to the box with nobody knowing how to deal with them.

Arrington played some very good attacking football but were let down by the cheating...

The free kick that led to their first goal, a blatant dive
Kee winning the penalty, a blatant dive
and it went on and on and was disgraceful that football can be played like that.

Almost every player had a shocker but to still get a point is unbelievable... I thought we would of made a few changes to the side and that might of been why we weren't as good as we have been. We STILL never beat accrington so lets prepare right for grimsby and keep the unbeaten run going

Really enjoyed the game but always thought we'd end up conceding late on - I just didn't feel confident we'd hold on to the win. Agreed on the time wasting/ play acting - some of us were talking about this on the coach on the way home and felt it was unnecessary - as someone on here has said we have enough about us to manage without all that. Looks like it was as entertaining in the dug-outs as it was on the field last night!

Two home games up next V Colchester and Cambridge

Accrington were very impressive on the night. Don't know why people are sounding surprised though about how some of the Accy players acted feigning injuries etc. It's a John Coleman side!

2/3 months back we'd of lost that and I'm taking the positives that we came from behind twice and eventually took a point despite being absolutely gash for 90mins. Accrington's number 7 had Benning chasing his tail around like a daft Jack Russell. Pleased we keep the unbeaten run going and the teams below us both lost so we stay 7th, Onto Grimsby..
