Thought I'd bump this thread now the transfer window has closed. This is the team I'd most likely want to see.

Ikeme

Iorfa - Batth - Ebanks-Landell - Golbourne

McDonald - Coady

Wallace - Afobe - Bryne

Le Fondre

Excluding Beckford as i've no idea how long he is out for.

Pickford
Clarke, Huntington, Wright, Cunningham
Welsh
Humphrey, Gallagher, Johnson
Garner, May

Kirkland, Vermijl, Woods, Kilkenny, Browne, Keane, Doyle
Well that's what i'm predicting for our next game, plenty of options now, possibly move Humphrey to the bench and go 4-3-3.

Need to get a few out on loan really.

Button
Colin - Dean - Tarkowski - Bidwell
Diagouraga - Woods
Vibe - Judge - Gogia
Djuricin

Bonham, O'Connell, McCormack, Kerschbaumer, Saunders, Canos, Hofmann

Can't wait to get our strongest side out when injuries are done, looks awesome.

Hi, new member here, felt this thread would be a good place to start in light of Rotherham's (predictably) turbulent start. Something clearly isn't working at the moment, despite many fans in preseason being rather vocal about our team appearing stronger on paper. Steve Evans now has an incredibly difficult week and a half to select his squad with the new Norwich loanees adding more uncertainty to the starting 11. This team is one that I don't necessarily expect Evans to field but would try; if I was in his position:

(4-4-2)

Camp- No disrespect to Adam Collin here who has stayed resolute despite being dropped numerous times over the last two seasons in favour of a whole host of alternatives that have all failed to deliver. Camp, however, finally appears to be the experienced Championship goalkeeper we have been lacking. (Opinions, Derby/QPR/Forest/Bournemouth fans?)

Mattock- (If fit) Must start as he is our only natural left back and so far Richardson, White and Newell have all covered to no avail.
Thorpe- Looks promising when plays and he is our future- something that can't be said for many other players. Manchester United are no mugs and this partnership can not be any worse than the paceless and heartless combination of Greg Halford and Danny Collins, please give these a chance Evans. (Another option may be starting Thorpe as a holding midfielder with Smallwood with the experience of Richard Wood partnering Rawson.
Rawson- Was excellent at the end of last season but was fighting niggling injury concerns right until the first day. We have missed him so far.
Buxton- Looked steady so far in a poor defence, should keep his place with no other options appearing any better.

Newell- Signed from Peterborough in the summer as our only player who cost a fee, picked up several early man of the match awards and was one of the only positive signs from our first 7, along with JCH. Play him in midfield rather than defence and let him show his potential.
Smallwood- Last year's POTY, has looked uncomfortable having to cover so much so far for a shaky defence. Please make him captain too, we need a leader, now more than ever.
Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe- Signed from Norwich on deadline day after facing us the previous week. He needs game time and we need attacking intent from our midfield, perfect combination. Only here for a month sadly but could be an excellent addition if he's looking to impress and push for more starts in the Premier League.
Tony Andreu- Partnering his fellow Norwich teammate, Andreu looks to be another exciting addition. Don't know whether he would be better out wide or just ahead of the midfield, sitting behind the strikers and feel I may have placed him wrongly here but before things get too complicated 4-4-2 may allow us to grind out a few draws and hopefully concede slightly less goals, by utilising our midfield and not instantly resorting to hoofball.

Jonson Clarke-Harris- Bagged two cracking goals and fully stepped up to the plate now, looks strong and hungry for more. Wins everything in the air and early season form suggests he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet. A phrase I can't imagine many Millers thinking they would have said in July.

Derbyshire- Even an out of form Derbyshire looks more effective than our other options (only just), been bitterly unlucky as usual but his off-the-ball impact is more than many Millers realise and like last season, I feel that when it clicks, Derbyshire will score a few. Until Maguire, Ward or Bowery come good of the bench, this could be the partnership for us.

Time will tell, undoubtedly, that team will not start against Charlton but it will be interesting to see which team does. Many fans are now seeing relegation as inevitable (Yes, it is only September!) and writing us off, like the bookies and most other teams fans had in preseason and although it is difficult to see beyond relegation with 1 point on the board and only harder fixtures to come, it would be nice to show a bit of the grit and determination of a Steve Evans team before we go.

I can't even imagine what our starting 11 will look like now, loads and loads of options in midfield especially. With Vydra we'll have to go 4-4-2 which will cause a lot of changes.

Bond
Gunter McShane Ferdinand Obita
McCleary Williams Quinn Hurtado
Sa Vydra

But then you're missing out Norwood who's been our best midfielder so far this season and Blackman our top scorer.. Can't imagine Ola John, Lucas Piazon and Alex Fernandez have come in on loan to sit on our bench. Expect Chelsea will want Hector to play regularly too. We're certainly not going to have many kids playing this year.

We've now got quite alot of options whilst maybe missing that elusive striker, i think we may play forriestieri in there personally but only time will tell.

GK - Kieron Westwood
RB - Jack Hunt
CB - Tom Lees
CB - Michael Turner
LB - Daniel Pudil

CM - Sam Hutchinson
CM - Lewis Mcgugan

RM - Marco Matias
CAM - Barry Bannan
LM - Ross Wallace

ST - Fernando Forristieri

Subs

GK - Lewis Price
DF - Glenn Loovens
DF - Rhys Wiggins
MF - Alex Lopez
MF - Modou Sougou
ST - Adthe Nuhiu
ST - Lucas Joao

Would maybe play Alex Lopez in place of Bannan depending on how they both settle

Leaves no place for Jeremey Helan, i may be tempted to have him on the bench due to his pace, Kieron Lee who is a really good central midfielder at this level tbh . Liam Palmer who has been pretty good when played this season despite me not particularly rating him. Jose Semedo, been a stalwart for a few years now. Vicent Sasso who has impressed me when played this season.

We have a really big squad now and plenty to choose from, just hope they all begin to gel together.

I would imagine we will be a 4-2-3-1 formation this season.

Green,

Perch Onuoha Angela Yun

Luongo Sandro

Phillips Fer Chery

Austin.

Better than the team that got us relegated!

Can't complain with that. Leaves us with a pretty strong bench, especially in the middle.

Obviously can amend though. Mowatt/Murphy interchangeable and if we're going more attacking, Antenucci for either of those and playing in behind wood. Need to see what Botaka has in his locker to threaten the wide players. Byram had a quiet start but I'm sure he'll come good soon.

I'd probably swap Gally to where you've got Humphrey and stick Keane in the middle.

Sticking to Cotterill's beloved 3-5-2...

I've been reliably informed we're looking at two potential striker targets after missing out on Kermogant yesterday, which would be pleasing. Still think we're a little light in the central midfield department, but I'd like to possibly try Reid there, as he's got a bit of pace about him, which is what we lack in that department.

I think Humphrey has been one of our best players so far this season personally, not sure on Will Keane yet.

Good point on Humphrey but I would like to see Keane in that role just behind the striker, maybe off the bench at first. Think it would suit him more than playing up top.

I am suddenly confident heading into the season. Get Sandro and Fer fit ASAP and we have a beast of a midfield.

Can't argue too much with that. Would keep Pack though otherwise we're majorly lacking height in the middle. Love Wilbraham but not sure he's up to it. I'd go with:

Hamer
Moore---Flint---Baker
Ayling-----------------------Bryan
Pack--Smith
Freeman-Reid
Kodjia
Might seem silly having Reid and Freeman in behind Kodjia rather than 2 up top but we did it when JET played and it worked fine.

Aye, it's a defnite option, some good competition for the attacking positions.

I'd love that, but I can't see him changing the 3-5-2 for a while. Think Ayling will definitely be shoved to wingback, enabling Moore to slot in.

it's difficult to say with ours, Antenucci needs to play with wood really he thrives on it

.................Wood.......Antenucci..................

although away from hope i'd have Byram for botaka and a 3-52 as we've been playing oerfect away tactics

all this also depends on Botaka being any good

Agree with that, but i would put Agard in for Wilbraham. Wilbz just isn't Championship quality, we need to get him out of the side ASAP.
