You'd better not fucking tune in unless we're 6-0 up at half time.

Yeah but if I bet on that at half time I could be a millionaire by the final whistle, so I wouldn't mind so much.

What did I say about Benitez not touching the job with a barge pole? Well I was certainly wrong! It's a great appointment in the short term for Newcastle and should give the whole club a boost which will help them in their relegation fight. I still think he's a good manager even though it seems like a lot of people on here don't share that opinion. Whilst he may be damaged goods in a lot of ways, it's still a big risk for his career to take over a club that's looked as poor as they have this year and with the position they are in. As already pointed out, I thought he'd hold out for the Valencia job when Neville eventually gets the chop.

As a neutral, it certainly does make the dogfight at the bottom a bit more interesting, especially with them playing Sunderland next week.

I'm not sure about this appointment, the timing seems all wrong. He's obviously a better manager than McClaren, but dare I say it, we would have been better off appointing a short-term motivator/madman like Pearson to keep us up. And then appoint Rafa in the summer when the club is a little bit more stable.

This way, Rafa will probably end up relegating us and then ditching us as soon as he's done.

I don't think it's such a bad choice of job for Rafa to take, there's no way Newcastle should be where they are, with the right manager and the right coaching they're a mid table side, players like Janmaat, Shelvey, Wijnaldum, Townsend and Perez are all decent, if he can sort the defence out which will be hard in itself with the likes of Coloccini then they'll stay up, then with the attacking players they've got they won't have a problem.

And if they do go down, he apparently has a release clause and he can tell clubs in the future the club is fucked and it wasn't his fault, if he keeps them up, he's a genius and he can sort them out proper and rebuild his career.

Pretty happy with the Rafa appointment.
Hopefully he gives the playes confidence to turn this around.

McClaren was an awful appointment, kept smirking and smiling after a hammering and he was too soft on the players

To be fair to the man you can really tell just how cut up he is about failing the Newcastle fans and losing his job...

The t-shirt has a touch of irony to it.

That must be why it clings to his bulging muscles so well.

Sad to see another manager hounded out by Newcastle fans. Only matter of time they do the same to Benitez
