So after actually winning a game on Tuesday (forgotten what that felt like) it will be interesting to see if we can carry that confidence on into another tough away game. Apart from Newport we've been playing ok in our last few games, battling hard and 4 points from trips to Notts and Coventry is a decent effort.

Glad Stevenage had a game in between getting done for 7 by Luton and playing us, as they were guaranteed to bounce back with a win, which they did v Accy.

Expect us to put up a good fight but probably lose, they look good going forward but I'd be over the moon if we could nick a point.

Yeah, suspect it will be small steps and we still seem to be giving up a few too many soft chances and were lucky Cov couldn't take any. Still, Christian has been plugging away and can't believe his goal drought will last much longer, so maybe he'll shine and we'll nick something.

Tut..tut we dropped the Boro 10 years ago, mind I think last time we played you lot we still were Boro.

How are Robbo and Laird doing? Ex-Stevenage players both.

You'll probably win, our defense has no backbone so the strong wind forecast will probably blow them over!

I think it's fair to say both Roberts and Laird, like the rest of our defence, have struggled so far. Both seem like good lads with a lot of experienced and talk well but the constant chopping and changing in our defence and keeper hasn't helped anyone look good really,

Laird especially I think has a lot more to offer. He's just regained his place at the same time as Roberts has lost his, who had up until the Newport game looked like starting to form a decent partnership at cb with Collins, but after that shit shower looks like he was one of the fall guys.

Edit. Just seen this on our OS - The two sides have met 27 times but this is the first time since Stevenage dropped the ‘Borough’ from their name back in 2010.
Never realised that lol. They're still called Boro by their fans, it says Boro on their seats and their main forum is called Borochat. Easy mistake to make I suppose.

We never win at stevenage :( but that was mostly with Westley in charge! As long as the lads put their bodies on the line again and play with heart I'll be happy!

Boro is the nickname, the chairman thought it was too 'non-league' when we got promotion from the conference.
Laird was the best left back we have ever had, hope he rediscovers this form for you. Roberts is a legend in these parts, getting on a bit in years now though.

We're a bit of a conundrum at the moment. Getting hammered at home last Saturday, but then showing signs of form away from home. Only seconds away from beating Notts County away, followed by the win midweek at Coventry. Reason to believe are game suits playing away. Contrast that with a doubtful defence who can implode, and a real problem scoring goals at the other end!

I think you would favour a home win especially as Boro are a capable side doing well. But we are not without hope. Makes for an interesting tie. Sadly can't make away games.

Got to be looking to KMB for us to turn it if we're to win. Doidgy seems to be treading water atm, feel sorry for the lad.

Shame your chairman felt that way, that was your identity, proper history. Not unlike us having to loose our black & white stripes.

Still you have to move on I suppose.

Yah, I agree it was our identity, there was an bit of mixed feeling across the fanbase at the time. If I was chairman I wouldn't have done it but hey ho, progress I guess.

Perdition for today a narrow home win 1 - 0

Good job once again Rovers. It looked clear to me your biggest problem was your back line and not up front, and I've always maintained it's much easier to fix a leaky defence than improving a goal shy forward line. First win over Boro (sorry Jolua but your lot will always be Boro to me) in a decade I believe.

On the radio it sounded like we did still concede the usual number of free headers and soft chances but a couple of good saves and some poor shooting saw us through. Maybe still fewer than earlier which will be enough. Really hope Doidgey kicks on again after ending his drought - he's never given up ll that time and deserved his reward.

After 2 consecutive wins the new FGR nickname instead of The Veggies it can be 'The Busses'.

You wait forever for one to come along............

Yes, Always be Boro to me too.

That was a right dogs breakfast of a game, we came out and had that 'couldn't be bothered' type of attitude. Didn't deserve anything out of that game. Ref was shocking but that didn't affect the result. If we play like that the only way is down for us. FGR were poor but we were poorer.

Bloody delighted with that, 2 away wins in a row is massive. Proper good battling away performance. Stevenage weren't great tbf but we were well organised and looked a threat at times. Couple of good moves for our goals, first led to a free kick second was a 15 pass move that led to Keanu sticking it on Doidge's head. Scenes.

Defensively we looked a lot more solid, other then Godden's goal and a free header for Smith we weren't threatened first half and other then Collins' late tip over Stevenage didn't create much second half either.

We're on a roll. :bdick:
