After last weeks give away to Coventry I fully expect us to return home with all three points. Slade seems to set us up better for away games and with our new found pace we should manage to score more than the opposition.

I'm going to this, looking forward to it after Chesterfield and I was fortunate to miss Coventry. Interested to see how we set up, think we're about to see how much of an 'away team' we really are.

First game of the season for me. Expecting to get swept away in Dembele Mania.

I thought the single match thread was to put pay to silly thread titles.

Wow, that was bad. Very negative. Was expecting us to be direct like Slade's last stint here but that was just all the crap parts of a long ball team without the penetration. Slightly improved when Bolarinwa and Cardwell came on, but if the game wasn't gone by then then it was 15 minutes later when Sam Jones got sent off. I fear the Vale fans were right about Hooper and Kelly. Both absolutely piss poor. Summerfield was terrible too. I don't even know what Slade was going for formation wise, it was that much of a mess. McAllister has to start against Wycombe and if he hasn't already because of match fitness then he needs to be give some time against Derby. Could have had a pen, ball might have crossed the line too...but that is straw clutching at its finest. Stevenage well better than us today without needing to exert themselves too much.

McAllister must start, Jones must start upfront (post suspension), Kelly/Berrett/Hooper/Summerfield must be nowhere near the first team and I'd probably true Karleigh Osborne because we aren't defending well.

A whole year and the York duo are still starting ffs.

Good win for us, played well first half, thought Grimsby were better second half until the sending off. After that we looked comfortable enough, lovely strike from Kennedy for the third. Fryer in goal is starting to worry me, after his great performance vs Newport on the opening day, he's been at fault for the two goals we've conceded since and was incredibly fortunate not to fumble the ball over the line in the first half too.

Couldn't see it clearly from the other end of the ground but the "handball/penalty" incident followed almost immediately by the red card was obviously a big moment in the game. The Grimsby fans/players/management seemed outraged by the decision. If it was a handball, it's probably 2-1 and 10 v 11 in your favour so could have been different.

It was a definite handball but we were definitely shite, Hooper was the definition of shit. I took my girlfriend to this, now she's seen a side of me she's never seen. One of the worst performances I've seen by a Grimsby side.

I didn't go today but it sounded awful on the radio and for it have been worse than our performance there last season, it must have been bad.

Fair one, think the Chesterfield game gave a lot of you false hope though.

We'll come good no-one getting worried here, too much quality in the side.

To be honest, I think both of our squads have a similar amount of quality. It's just that people don't know about a few of our players and/or some of them are underrated. As opposed to yours who have been overrated for much of the summer. Both teams will finish in the 10th-16/17th(ish) bracket.

Quality being Luke Waterfall?????

You'd definitely swap squads with us don't deny it.

Your starting XI next week without Jones is going to look like relegation fodder. You must be worried? There's light at the end of our tunnel...

What SoC says. Both teams have quality. For instance, Danny Collins and Zak Mills are better than Waterfall and Long. But your midfield is better than ours, probably by a long way, except Dembele.

And of course there's light at the end of your tunnel. Until Danny leaves.

If I had both squads at my disposal and fully fit my combined Mariners/Imps lineup would probably be...

McKeown
Mills--Raggett--Collins--Habergham
Osborne--Woodyard--Boswick
Jones--Dembele
Green

...five of each outfield. Not a lot to choose between Farman/McKeown either. I'd be equally happy with either.

It's the worst I've seen Town fans treated in years, which was a shame because in the build up to the game it was a friendly atmosphere. The second we got to the ground that changed, the stewards were aiming their antognistic approach to the wrong people because the element of knobheads in our support were nowhere to be seen. Unfortunately the stewards were hell bent on it kicking off anyway.

I couldn't make it on Saturday but it sounded like our supporters were treated badly going by this letter from The Mariners Trust.

Pretty much how it went. Young, what I'm assuming was a family, in front of me on the way in. The 2 kids, probably about 9 and 11 years old, both got fully body pat downs. I thought they were taking the piss and so did anyone that was within the immediate vicinity. When it became clear they weren't, they were met with a chorus of "Seriously?!" to which we were aggressively told it was policy before I was allowed to walk straight in unchecked with a hip flask in my pocket.

Did you go last season? Were treated pretty much the same then as well (not quite as serious allegations though) over the top searches, stewards looking for trouble which wasn't there, cause the fans to get angry, when they would be fine if the stewards just kept out of the way and let people watch the football.

I did go last season and although I was subject to a search before entering the ground I can't really remember it being too bad inside.
