So not Allardyce, Hoddle, Sven, Redknapp or any other big name touted by some Wedneaday fans. In fact, it is no one anyone has ever heard of. A complete no-marks from Portugal...oh and Mark Cooper.

Is this Wednesday's statement of intent?

Hilarious!

Cooper was our manager when we beat Mansfield at Wembley a couple of years ago.

I thought he was unfairly sacked the season as we weren't doing that badly considering the pressure he was under.

Why would Mark Cooper leave Swindon for a lesser role where he's not even manager?

From what's going on at Swindon he's hardly their manager. Not involved with training and has had the team selected by their chairman on numerous occasions. Doesn't see eye-to-eye with the 'golden boy' (assistant manager).

If he doesn't leave for another club, the Swindon chairman will 'push' him until he leaves anyways.

Williams (their assistant) is most likely to takeover from Cooper.

So basically, won't be a lesser role.

At least neither are convicted fraudsters with weight issues and eyeliner eh.

From what is been said we are looking for a coach that is happy to be just that, he will get final choice in all player recruitment and selection but that's it, we're aiming for a new type set up more akin to Southampton and Swansea than the traditional route and Carvalhal will be entrusted with integrating it.....

Sven, Hoddle and Rednapp would have been even worse. Bizarre comment.

Worse than the 'dream-team' of Carvalhal and Cooper? Are you sure about that? Besides, these are names suggested by some of your fellow Wednesday fans, not me. The point is, I thought you were MASSIVE? Is this the best calibre Wednesday can attract? Can you honestly see these two building a legacy at Hillsborough?

Good luck next season, I think you'll need it.

You have Steve Evans, I'm sure we'll still be above you come May and you'll have used another 30 loan players. The massive thing is a joke by the way, you seem to have missed it.

Ahh here we go, resort to the 'we'll finish above you' argument. Grow up. This thread is about Wednesday and discussing a management team supposedly tasked with getting you to the Prem. What has Evans got to do with that? Two successive promotions and kept us in this league. What has Cooper done? Won the Conference North. Brilliant.

My reference to you being MASSIVE was also a joke, you seem to have missed it.

That's what Burnley offered him last summer....so he went back to Derby and got himself a new deal on LESS than £20k?:bg:

Given that Best in the first half, and Bent in the second half of the season were our top earners on 19k per week, then I guess so. How did you offer Bryson 20k a week, with a 15k wage cap?

Carlos Carvalhal officially appointed as Head Coach, not sure on the contract but it seems he fits into the new system the chairman wants to incorporate. He has a very questionable CV and averages a new club every 12 months, but he's managed some big clubs in different countries so hopefully he'll have different ideas and styles. It's fairly clear he wont be signing the players though, Glenn Roeder does that and Carlos will coach them and pick the team.

Overall I can't say I'm particularly thrilled, fair enough Stuart Gray didn't want to buy into the new regime but I can't see how this guy is an improvement. I'll support him while he's here though and hope to be proved wrong, much like with Gray before.

Assuming Cooper isn't going to you as well as he was also being touted as Head Coach?

I'm not 100% sure but I think that will be the end of the interest in Cooper, Carvalhal has brought his own backroom staff with him so don't see anywhere for him to fit in. It's a strange set up that the chairman is wanting to put in place, hope it works out but sceptical if this is the right appointment. Good luck to him.

So another banned Rotherham muppet made a new forum account...

The jealousy they have for Wednesday is laughable, talk about obsessed.

Couldn't give a fuck about Wednesday, just the scummy Rotherham Owls.

The vast majority of Rotherham fans dislike Donny twice as much as Wednesday, you haven't really got a clue what you're on about.

No matter what happens at New York, you can always rely on Washday to give you a laugh. Ever since their fall from the top division, they have been a bit of a laughing stock. And this is the next one. A long long Season ahead maybe the order of the day. Never mind though, they'll still get 21k turn up and be treated like mugs every year. It's a no lose situation for the board!!

He will be sacked within 10 games after a poor start is my prediction.

£20 bet we finish at least 10 points above you lot?

Edit : It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, we've seen great players, we've seen cup finals, we've seen beating the best at Wembley, we've seen European football....

What have Rotherham done in your lifetime? Admin twice, flit between the bottom two leagues, be made homeless.......

Superb.

Wednesday under Gray were guaranteed a midtable finish, as he's a midtable manager. At least with this Carlos guy, it will be exciting.

Probably still finish midtable, mind.

I know i wish we were filling up our squad with players released by a team we despise................

I think we'll still bring in a British coach aswell from what is been said, i can't see that been Cooper though or i expect that would be over the line by now. Carvhal could be great he could be a nightmare, we just don't know, much like the players we've signed so far, only time will tell. It's nice to have a bit of excitement which is something us fans haven't had for a long time, even if it goes tits up.

A british coach would probably bring balance and a knowledge of the English game. Depends on the names you bring in I guess - there certainly was an Italian/foreign divide among our squad last year but Redfearn could relate and get through to most of the squad. The difficulty with these foreign coaches is people judge them on their Wikipdia page, time will tell if its a good appointment or not.

Talk about U-Turns!

Cooper clears his desk, believes it's all done, then... Nope...

He did attend Swindon's first training session though.
