Sunderland were poor, but we didn't half take advantage of it. We were brilliant. The performance died off as Wes, Jerome and Redmond were withdrawn from the action, which is to be expected, but the game was won prior to that.
All this talk of us desperately seeking a striker - whilst it's clear we need one as the likes of Grabban and RVW aren't going to be strong enough options, whoever does come in is going to have a hell of a job removing Jerome from the team. He's different class every time he plays. It just amazes me how he's struggled to settle anywhere in his career. We've given him a fair opportunity since the day he first arrived and he's been sensational. First name on the teamsheet for me at the moment.
There were several times in the first half when a Sunderland defender had the ball and one of the Norwich players came from behind him and nicked the ball off him without any Sunderland player seeming to tell the player on the ball. It was really strange, the sort of stuff you see at schoolboy level.
Whittaker's second was really well worked. Not sure you can blame Sunderland on that one but Wright rightly pointed the space afforded to the opposition. The 3rd goal was just comical defending. Not sure Cattermole is entirely to blame as the LW was nowhere to be seen on the screen.
I actually rated Sunderland's transfer dealings but Advocaat seems to think that things will just turn great out of thin air. Looks like the season the Mackems go down. Ah well.
It's not really a surprise to see Sunderland where they are, when you continue to play Cattermole, Fletcher, Larsson every season. Need 4/5 players for any chance of staying up.
