Arsenal say they don't..

Mind you think something like this will happen as money talks.

Did they invite Liverpool to the meeting for a laugh?

Liverpool?! shows they only care about money as they'd finish bottom of a league of europe's elite every year

This will happen in the long run, maybe 10-20 years time. I can see a setup of two-three divisions, the 'top' teams of Barcelona, Bayern, Arsenal etc... in the 1st division, probably made up of around 24 clubs then a second tier with clubs like Tottenham, Lyon, Valencia, Galatasaray etc... I don't think they would shut out so called 'smaller leagues' either there would be representation from all.
The sticking point would be whether domestic football would continue alongside this new setup or become a feeder league and how you would relegate/promote teams from their national leagues into the European league and vice versa.
A lot of clubs around Europe are going to push for this, not just the Man Utd's, clubs like Celtic, PSV, Porto, Anderlecht will most likely be the main driving force behind seeking higher revenue streams from cross continent leagues.

It'll never happen. Not in the foreseeable future, anyway.

I think if it happens it will be a closed shop of 20-40 clubs in 2 divisions at most

Barca
A Madrid
R Madrid
Juve
Inter
AC Milan (Milan clubs are probably 2 clubs who will push big for it)
Chelsea
Manchester Utd
Manchester City
Liverpool
Arsenal (they don't want it but can't see them not doing it if it happens)
Dortmund
Roma
Celtic (pointless them being in SPL anyway)
Porto
PSG
Monaco
Lyon
CSKA
Zenit

20 there

Sevilla
Valencia
Bilbao
Villareal
Napoli
Lazio
Fiorentina
Leverkusen
Wolfsburg
Ajax
Spurs
Galatasaray
Benfica
Marseille
PSV
Anderlecht

Could have 2 divisions of 18, not that I actually want it to happen though

What how massive Swansea are? It's not like there'd be representation from every European country, just those that are the biggest financial draw.

Yeah, we're quite simply a massive draw. If a Super League was set up we'd be invited.

Chelsea-Swansea City match on NBC averaged 1 million viewers, ranking as the most-watched opening weekend game in U.S. history

In the land of television viewership numbers the match scored a 1.2 overnight rating, which means at least 1.2 million people around the country tuned in. That's right - the South Wales Derby posted the highest Premier League TV ratings here in America to date

Good luck getting an invite before clubs like Everton, West Ham or Southampton. All have more european exposure and marketability over Swansea, your biggest tv draw against Cardiff is unlikely to happen again for quite a while.

You sure it wouldn't be TNS? Given that you can't actually represent Wales in Europe anyway?

If this even becomes anything more than a stupid idea then there should be protests. Do the fans of these clubs actually want it or just the greedy c*** who run them?

Who gives a fuck. Won't affect 85 or so out of the 92 pyramid so if some want to break away we will replace with 7 conference clubs and start again.
Couldn't give a shit and would not watch it.
money talks though doesn't it.

And then force anyone who wants to come back to start in the conference and reintroduce the re-election system

I think the fans of these clubs prefer to see them playing their domestic rivals but how much are their views going to be taken into account?

Yeah I know that. But surely if they kick up a fuss then the clubs will listen. Liverpool owners shit themselves at a few thousand walking out on the 74th minute or whatever it was!

The only way to stop this is for FA and UEFA to act quickly. But they won't. I suspect a lot of fans of top clubs will be glad if this move guaranties a lot of money and NO chance of relegation

I, for one, being a support of one of these clubs think this is a horrendous idea. It's only going to continue to push ticket prises up, people may think, big competition more prize money more tv, smaller ticket prices, but we've seen from the premier league thats not the case, this would make the likely hood of me getting tickets for games less likely.

Plus their's something special about being champions of your home country, not just some far flung continental competition.

You'd also think their'd be much less games, no league cup (ok, no so bothered) no FA Cup (Outrageous) no champions league....less games to see our teams play.

THe knock on effect might be up to international level, as UEFA/FIFA won't condone this so that's those players no playing for their country (although in england's case, that might be an advantage)

I believe it is the only logical forward step for football, the football league was started on similar grounds and so to the premier league - the top and best clubs need and want more money. We all love the football league and we all love the premiership as consumers. so when it inevitably happens I think you will all enjoy it

They don't 'need' more money at all.

All it will do is make players and agents earn more.
