We'd like to think we're improving, yet the results suggest otherwise. Our hard to take 1-0 home defeat to Newcastle was probably our best performance of the season so far. It certainly was in terms of moving the ball around, looking confident and creating openings, even if the final pass wasn't always incisive enough. And at the back we restricted Newcastle to one real effort, the most solid defensive display of the season by far. One effort just happened to be the only goal of the game! Ho hum, it happens. Although the opposition needs to taken into account, Swansea will probably be better than Newcastle.

The improving performances will halt at some point if the results continue to hammer us down. We need a positive result sooner than later, as even the only draw we picked up recently was a downer, a gutting draw that should have been a win. All credit to the way Howe has managed to eek out slowly improving performances despite results continually going against us.

We sold out last week the 2000 allocation our club requested, which is a decent effort IMHO, and a shame we couldn't have a few more.

The worrying thing is this is possibly our most winnable game until the New Year, I can actually see us entering 2016 on single figures...

A few weeks ago we were leaking goals but still scoring a few; we've tightened up now (Only 3 shots on target by both Saints and Newcastle between them; it led to 3 goals which points to another issue, but that's a matter for another day) but the goals have dried up; I think a lot of us are still trying to work out how we didn't score against Newcastle, but with our best two finishers and dangerous players out it's taking its toll.

Josh King put in an excellent shift against Newcastle; I think his pace could be crucial in this one, but his lack of quality in front of goal is really showing, we, and especially he, can't keep wasting this amount of chances that we have lately.

Sadly I can only see another defeat here. I'd bite your arm off for a draw but you can guarantee we'll gift Gomis the easiest goal of his season (probably a Distin mistake, if we're honest) and won't be able to get back in it. I hope Eddie knows the answer because at the moment I'm stumped.

I would also very much welcome a draw, it's away and any kind of result would get us moving in a better direction. But I also share the nagging thought that this is looking the most winnable game this side of Christmas.

The more you look back at those Villa / Stoke / Watford / Newcastle games, the more upset you get by them!

I've become pretty pessimistic about Josh King. I know we need his pace, but Murray is our realistic goal scoring striker, and as we've tried numerous times, it's hard to fit the two of them in. King hasn't a clue in that slightly deeper position.

And yeah, when literally every opposition shot on target goes in at the moment, even if it's the only shot on target they have all game, it's getting a bit daft.

Remember a few years back beating Swansea there in League One as they were going for promotion. 1-0 down to winning 2-1 with goals in the 89th and 92nd minutes or something daft. Jo Kuffour of all lower league journeymen.

Another game to take the positives and move on. But how the hell are we going to win a game?

Probably the most popular away pub is the wetherspoons (Christopher Creek) a few mins walk from the train station. It's about 30-40 mins walk to Dean Court though, or a short taxi hop. If you're not coming by train there's another wetherspoons nearer the ground (Percy Shelley) in Boscombe about 15 mins walk to Dean Court. There isn't much immediately near the stadium for away fans.
