What, on paper, looks like a straightforward win may well prove to be a difficult match. Although we’ve won 5 in a row and are playing well, Chesterfield have shown signs of life lately.

If we could afford to hand over 3 points then Chesterfield would be the club I’d be happiest doing so. Real shame they have become embroiled in all the off pitch shenanigans.

I’ll still go for a narrow, hard fought home win. We’ve certainly got our shit together lately.

We're improving but still not quite there. The Tommy Lee news is massive as now we don't have any decent keepers at all. Dennis will probably score and we will probably lose :(

I think this is a game with 2 outcomes, we either romp it ........ or we lose it ! At the moment we are team that is coming together, and scoring goals for fun, the defence is solid, and our midfield is creating chances for our strikers.
Chesterfield are a team in crisis, but there is a soft spot for them from a lot of Swindon fans after a Friday night game there back in the 80s, when the floodlights failed, some Chesterfield fans gave accomadation to to some of our fans, as the game was going to be played the following day, so as Dan says , we hope that you get it together , that is after Saturday

I'm travelling West for this one. Confidence is high in the squad and despite 7 changes since our cakewalk in Dartford, we beat Bristol Rovers fairly easily last night.

We aren't as good at home, but we are showing positive signs and getting better and better week by week. I hope Smith and Mullin/Anderson are given the nod on Saturday, but we have a wealth of decent strikers/midfielders now in the squad and with Matt Preston proving an astute signing at the back, we are beginning to motor.

I think we'll win, but wouldn't be shocked if Chesterfield leave with the 3 points.

Looking at Swindon, they get most of their points away and the home form is pretty so-so. There's a tiny glimmer of hope I think... not much of one, but a faint glimmer!

Well... fuming. We've choked a sure win again. That's like 9 points dropped in the last month with games we should have won... We just can't see things out. That's done me that has

Thought Chesterfield were pretty darn good - too good to get relegated for sure. Got to be the worst refereeing performance I’ve seen. Should have had a pen and their keeper sent off in the first half, ref got his goal kicks and corners by pure guesswork. Couldn’t see what our pen was for, tbh. Draw just about right result.

Chesterfield should be climbing the table soon enough.

Seen a video of the pen, and it's absolutely diabolical. Never a pen in a month of Fridays. The ref obviously saw the video of the incident 1st half, realised he dropped a bollock and wanted to even things up. Shit reffing

Chesterfield can feel hard done by, they were excellent second half and their second goal was one of the greatest goals I think I've ever seen!

I hate blaming referees for us dropping points but as Dan says he was a total putz today, using guesswork at every juncture. Pretty sure Anyon should have been sent off and looked like we had a goal that went over the line as well.

I have not seen the replay but pretty sure our penalty was extremely soft. Had to feel for the Chesterfield defence who dealt brilliantly with Matty Taylor's deadly crosses all game, he's found his feet at left back.

I'll be amazed if Chesterfield go down, their 24 and 25 stood out for me and as mentioned earlier they defended manfully. Good luck spireites.

That carry on with Hird is a bit mad isn't it. After the collision with the Swindon lad, apparently the Swindon doctor said he'd looked at the video and Hird had been knocked out. He said he hadn't and he was fine, our physio had a look and said he was fine.... but the Swindon doctor forced the substitution. That's a proper precedent to set that, I had no idea the opposition could do that!

Better safe than sorry, I suppose. Maybe lower league clubs don’t travel with their own doctor so have to rely on the home club’s. Seeing as you’ve been pretty shite most of the season I thought your turnout was pretty good.

No attendance at all given yet but I’d say it was around the 350 mark. Well done.

It's a little longer than that mate, we've done nothing but lose games for about 2 years now........it gets boring after a while!

That penalty decision is pathetic and it's especially a sickener with it being last minute. I don't know how strong your claim was (in the first half?) but it looks like the referee has seen a chance to even things up in his own head. I desperately hope you Swindon fans are right, there has definitely been a considerable improvement since Jack took over in terms of performances but the results are still hard to come by and that's what the table will be based on come May!

It’s difficult to judge really, cos we’ve been humiliated by Crawley and Barnet at home and we’re still showing some of the same old problems.

Bar Exeter, Chesterfield are the best side I’ve seen at the CG this season. But as I said, playing Swindon at the CG may not be much of a barometer. There are quite a few worse sides than you in this league on that showing.

Only just seen this on Goal Rush, that penalty is the sort of decision where the referee should never get to do another game in his life, fucking ridiculous decision and the fucker couldn't wait to give it, just awful.

They didn’t show the first half incident where their keeper held Woolery down with the ball loose 6 yards out. That should have been a pen plus a red card. If the ref did, indeed, even things up I know which decision I would have wanted.

In fairness to Chesterfield after the comment yesterday that penalty decision is ridiculous. However could he possibly have come to that conclusion? Not even the Swindon players appealed.

From experience, those are the crappy decisions that go against you when you're up against it

Was gutted when we conceded but would have taken a point at the start of play. We are improving every week under Lester and I personally am looking forward to the Exeter game next Saturday.

Arguable should have got 1 or 3 points at Cambridge, 3 at home to Carlisle and 3 yesterday which would have got us well off the bottom. Instead we got 2..still got faith we will stay up.

Some of the comments from the Swindon fans back this up also which gives me hope.

The performances are getting better and we just need that bit of luck for a few games and we'll kick on. I don't think we'll go down

I can understand why the Chesterfield players were upset by the penalty decision, they didn't do anything differently for the penalty than they had been doing most of the game, so why he decides to give a penalty for it in the 95th minute only he will know.

I said after 10 mins that the ref was shite.
I said at half time that the ref was shite.
And after he gave us a dubious 95th minute penalty he was still shite.

He's just the sort of ref we will see in the Premier league in a couple of years, a clueless idiot.

As for Chesterfield, to be honest they didn't look any worse than any other team (bar possibly Exeter) that we have played this season.

That decision is a joker (i've not seen the 2 first half penalty shouts for either side) but I just hope something like that doesn't cost us. We've now got 2 home games before the Scabs away, if we can pick up 4 points from those I think we will start to kick on!!

Interesting read on the match thread on the Chesterfield site. Some of the fans seem to be insinuating that our club doctor appears to be some kind of cheat for advising that both Hird and Smith be substituted after a head knock.

Seemingly the doctor said Hird was knocked out but Hird claims he wasn't. Seems a bit petty and I think some Chesterfield fans are being a bit naive here. Imagine if the doctor said Hird was fit to play on and then he collapsed later in the game. From a fan's perspective it may have seemed like an innocuous coming together, but player safety really needs to be the number one priority.

Kind of related, and quite Interesting (to me at least) there is a documentary Alan Shearer has put together about Dementia in football.

I would say if you are looking for a fair and balanced perspective of things, a club supporters forum is probably not the best place to look.
The Fishy is always golden after a Grimsby defeat.

The regulations state that if there is any suspicion of concussion, the player must be removed from the field and not allowed to return. A minimum of 24 hours of ‘physical and mental rest’ are required, followed by regular assessments and the gradual build-up of exercise, training drills and full contact practice for at least six days before return to play is allowed.

That, of course, applies to our player as well. In fact, the Chesterfield player should have been subbed there and then and not allowed to carry on till half time. Can't believe some people are up in arms about this as if it was some sort of conspiracy. As I said in a previous post, I presume Chesterfield didn't have their own club doctor with them so they have to take the advice of ours.
