Must put these to the sword even with 2 injured strikers and 4 new signings not fully match fit. Problem is, these fuckers have had the sign over us for some goddamn reason.

Looking forward to watching Alzate tie them in knots

And a very determined Harry Smith for them as well! I hope he gets a decent reception from the Town End as he seemed to be in a bit of a dark place under DF last season.

Going to go 3-1 win, Smith, of course for them and Twine, Alzate and Doughty (pen) for us.

Good point about the pens. Who’s going to take them now Doris has gone?

3-0. Because I haven't seen us win since we beat Crewe 4-3 in January 2016. That shit must change.

Massive awakening for us. Don't see anything but a comfortable home win. 4/5 in most places for a home win looks very generous.

Macclesfield, never seen us beat them.......went to Moss Rose on a Friday (7 hours on a coach, M6 just a carpark) night a few seasons back, played some really good football and yet, still lose 2-0..... they are one of our bogey sides.
If we are lucky maybe i will see us win against them ...... but sadly i have a feeling it will be a draw, !

Think we'll get beaten comfortably with Smith perhaps getting a consolation header from a corner; 3-1/4-1 Swindon. We seem to have gone from our midfield being of strongest area to our weakest, with no creativity (or defensive tenacity) and I expect Swindon to control the game from there.

Need to bring back Tony Diagne so he score a free kick from 40-odd yards again...

I'd like to think we'll get off to a good start and win but I've been a Town fan for too long to know it'll be that simple.
Still, 2-0 Doughty and Anderson.

Macclesfield don’t get penalties given against them, only for them, so there’s not much point discussing your takers.

Can someone explain to me why there are separate threads for each game?
Why yes sir, I certainly can. It is because we had a public vote about whether to just have one thread or individual ones. The single thread won the vote, but because of a certain moderator who voted for individual threads wasn't going to get his own way the general consensus was overruled. I politely requested a trial period as a way of compromise, however my request wasn't even dignified with a response by 75% of the mods that post in this section. Democracy does not exist around these parts unfortunately. If you have a problem then I advise you to take it up with Luke Imp, he is the only one worth communicating with.

Ooh risky comment ahead of 1st game of the season!

It wasn’t entirely serious, that said I do think you guys may struggle this season. Smith’s goals may keep you up.

Of course now I’ve just ‘jinxed’ my own team and you’ll turn us over today and have a good season.

I'm hoping for today at least you've thrown a jinx in but yeah I'm with you on the struggling part. I guess we just don't know yet, give it 6 games and we'll get a decent view of how strong the league is and then hopefully Yates can make sure we're set up well to pick up points.

Smith has looked decent pre season, and we have another 4/5 forwards to support him so fingers crossed we can score enough. Unfortunately we look much weaker across the midfield than we did last season and will be relying on Danny Whitaker to manage plenty of games again. I'll be a little more confident once Elliott Durrell returns from injury in a couple of months.

Our midfield is our strength so hopefully we exploit that weakness you state today.

I’m not going but I’m sure Indian Dan will be along not long after the game with his thoughts.

Safe journey to all the Macclesfield fans travelling down.

Just returned from a week's camping in time to listen to this so hopefully Swindon have a local BBC radio station. Looks like we're going with a 4-3-3 which is something we haven't tried at all in pre season. It kinda feels like a FL v non league cup tie, hopefully we can get something out of this but I'm not totally hopeful.

Well it's on the new ifollow silkmen player thing but I'm a cheapskate so I haven't paid for it. BBC Wiltshire only broadcast their commentary on DAB or FM radio which is no use to online listeners. So basically it's ifollow or nothing.

From periodically checking the twitter it looks like Taylor is keeping us in it so far. Is it bad that it's the opening day and I'm already pleased that Morecambe and Carlisle are losing??

Taylor very much keeping us in it. As expected Swindon are bossing midfield, Alzate is great on the ball while Adebayo has a little bit of everything and is a real handful; look like two very good loan signings there. Whit, Maycock and Rose not getting any possession with the latter looking well out of it. Would like to see Lloyd or Napa brought on to that left hand side.

1-1 within minutes of the second half starting. Would have been interesting if we could have kept it at 1-0 for a little longer.
