Nice to meet you too Cornish. Had things been different, I could have been a Charlton fan as well, as it was the nearest ground to me when I lived in Welling. But the Gills are still Kent's only league side, so that was that really. I did finally make it to the Valley on Easter Monday, bet we'll gloss over that. I do go to Truro sometimes, though not as often as when the were in the SW and Western leagues.

Oh aye ..... :shifty:

I did go to Charlton and Millwall as a kid but the draw at the Boleyn was greater, we lived in Eltham and then moved to Welling where I stayed until I flew the nest. Ran the line when Andy Townsend played for their youths.

One of our sports teachers played for a non-league side who were playing the addicks in the FA Cup live on tv. He played five a side with us sixth formers and got hurt. He was a defender and I remember him getting skinned (by Peacock I think) which resulted in a goal. Don't remember any sympathy for him on Monday.

Bizarrely I also remember seeing an American football game at the Valley before it closed down.

I also ran the line a few times when Cascarino played for Crockenhill until he moved south. What I do remember is that everyone assumed he would move onwards and upwards, which he did. Eventually.
