Telephone scams

Don't know if this has been done before but.....How do you go about dealing with these pains in the arse ? For some reason we're getting quite of few of them at the moment whereas we can go a fair time with none. I enjoy playing them along and having a little pisstake with them. Here's what happened a couple of days ago....

Just spent the last 20 minutes on the phone with David Parker (Asian sounding guy) from BT about my BT internet connection (I'm with Virgin....

)....had him getting very frustrated and telling me I wasn't doing it correctly when he asked me to do a certain action on my computer. He wouldn't sing a song for me as he wasn't allowed and couldn't understand when I told him I had a screen & mouse but no keypad. I hope the fucker is on commission cos he aint getting fuck all for the call to me......

Yo that 'BT' guy wasn't a cold caller, he was trying to scam you.

As for cold callers they're annoying but I always try to remember the person on the other end is probably paid utter shit working for an even shitter boss. Polite & courteous I am. Don't get people who rant and rave at em, get some perspective ffs.

Yeah, I should have worded the title differently....that's actually what I meant. I agree with you regards what are genuine cold callers (who you can normally identify). I also am polite to these callers. My attitude to the scammers is as I said though. Perhaps a Mod or admin could change the thread title to Scammers instead of Callers.

The problem is now you can't really tell the difference between genuine cold callers and those looking to scam you. I tend to screen my calls now, but if one does get through offering to help with my car accident that I had, they always seem to hang up when I'm telling them how to spell Bugatti.

Got another one purporting to be from BT. Oliver this time. He actually put the phone down on me.....

For a while I frequently got one from a "claims" company. A woman would phone me, I'd tell her it'd been sorted already, and then she'd ask me to hold as she was putting me through to another member of her team. It doesn't get more brazen than cold calling someone and then putting them on hold. I kind of liked it.
