The football season is back! Hooray! Looking forward to my first trip to Kingsmeadow. Expect us to be a bit more open than last season, we've ditched the 3-5-2 or (5-3-2), to a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3. We are still one or two signings away says Mr Adams, but I expect us to line up like this :
McCormick
Mellor
Nelson
Hartley
Sawyer

Boateng
Simpson
Carey CAM

Jervis RW
Reid ST
Wylde LW

Sold out the allocation, looking forward to it!

I am fairly confident that we will win this one.

Given the way that Adams likes to play, and with a fit Reuben Reid, I'm sure that we'll score a goal or two.

Akinfenwa can be difficult to defend against, but in my experience, that's only if he gets near the goal. We will be playing a high defensive line, with a defence more than capable of out running Akinfenwa. If we can keep the ball away from him at set-pieces we should fine.

With that being said, in our last two Football League matches our defending from set-pieces was anything but impressive...

Gary Sawyer couldn't outrun George off Blue Peter.

This is our strongest ever squad. We have pace up front and are very strong at back. I expect us to win this game but a 1 all draw would not totally surprise me.
First game is always a bit of a lottery though.

This George fella must be mightly slow if Akinfenwa can out run him. Don't get me wrong, inside the box he is lethal at this level but with the pace of dead cat and the turning circle of a bus, he's of no use to anybody when playing deep, which I imagine he'll be forced to do. He certainly has every time he's played us in recent years, including during his time at Northampton.

In all fairness, if history is anything to go by, a one all draw is the most excitement we can hope for! The last few times I've been to your ground, not only have I been able to see very little (I'm pretty short) but from what I have seen, the game has been far from exciting. Here's hoping for a 5 - 4 thriller. In Argyle's favour of course!

I hope Adams has paid as little attention to our transfer dealings as you! If you play a high defensive line and concentrate on Akinfenwa at set pieces you'll concede a hatful.

As iWomble says, you focus on Akinfenwa and Taylor/Elliott will tear you a new one.

Adams went to watch you against Cheltenham and also sent his Scout to watch you in another game.

That team against Cheltenham is pretty much nailed on as our starting lineup I reckon with the slight possibilty of a midfield tweak depending on how Ardley thinks he needs to balance it.

Shea
Fuller, Osborne, Robinson
Bulman, Barcham, Francomb, Reeves
Elliott, Taylor, Akinfenwa

Pretty even here but we are losing to a great goal. Don't really deserve to be 1 down. Both teams look strong.

Felt we edged it overall. Took us 10-15 minutes to settle down but once we did I thought we had control. Two great goals and a clean sheet, can't complain.

Did any of your lot get turned away from the car park? We share it with the athletics stadium and they had a big event today.

We had our chances when we dominated first 35 mins. After that goal went in writing was on the wall.

we parked in the car park with no problems. Did see some woman talking to your fans about the parking as I was getting out my car though.

Small 60ish woman with grey hair, or 50ish brunette?

I'm the brunette.

Started well, could've been 3 or 4 up inside 30 minutes, but as usual for us we failed to take our chances.
Plymouth weathered the early storm then exploited the space wide, by us only playing 3 at the back. The ease at which they cut through as was quite embarrassing at times, and the substations when made changed the game slightly, didn't really address the problems at the back.
Should've reverted to a flat back 4.

Overall Plymouth deserved their victory. Good luck for the rest of the season, and I'll look forward to our customary 3 points at Home Park later in the season.

Though we had a good spell, I though Plymouth were the better team and good value for the points. While I am a fan of 3 at the back, I don't think its a good idea with what looks like 3 up front as well.
Our squad lends itself to a 352 formation with Kennedy and Fuller playing wingback.
But as Womble mentions - any new series needs time to bed in.
