Man Yoo fans said he was a money grabbing swine when he left to play for Juve, instead of playing reserve football while Fergie talked an ageing Paul Scholes out of retirement and fielded John O'Shea in his position.

Point being they didn't say he wasn't going to make it though.

We didn't want him to go, we knew he was good, he was asking for more than he deserved at the time, we should have backed him with the contract anyway, he was criminally underplayed and it's one of Ferguson's biggest fuck-ups.

Darron Gibson is still robbing a living. Utterly crap when we had him down here.

If Gibson wasnt made of glass and liked the sauce, he'd be a good Premier League player. Every time he makes a comeback for us, I realise Id forgot just how good he was. Then he misses 6 months with a cruciate ligament injury sustained while sleeping in bed or runs over another cyclist or two and vanishes off the face of the earth for another year. He's out of contract this summer, I cant say Ill be bothered if he goes as I expect he will. Good player, not on the pitch long enough to justify all his problems off it. I think the day I truly started to feel old was when I found out he was still only 28...

The Leon's...

Leon Best - Couldn't score for toffee with Blackburn, ourselves, or Brighton, but now PROLIFIC at Rotherham....sort of.

Leon Clarke - markwwfc1992 had nothing good to say about this man, who only just beat Leon Best in the 'Battle of the Leon's' last season. Now scoring for fun at Bury.

You meant lower league shit too, didn't you? ;)

One of Leon Best's first spells of first team football was a loan with us, from Southampton I think? He spent most of his time here offside. A trait I understand, that has stuck with him through life. Scored a goal against Cheltenham once though, about the highlight.

idk, i don't recall many thinking he'd walk in to juve's first team and instantly become an integral part of it. probably the opposite tbh. there was a lot of bitterness and "how dare he" over his move from the fans.

Does the ball still go out for a throw whenever he shoots?

Well...hes more accurate than that these days...sometimes it's even within 10 yards wide!

Ironically, he's only scored 2 goals for us. Both long range shots, both deflected!

Because as pointed out, 99% of his 'shots' go out for throw ins so no real surprise his only 2 goals for us were two of his trademark long rangers that took a fortunate deflection.

Pique at Man United is another that springs to mind.

With Pique, fergie thought he'd come good, but knew the he'd always want to go back to Barca. I remember watching him score in a dead rubber match in champions league. Thought he was decent but no more. Went on to be one of they very best.

Pogba on the other hand, friends who regular saw the U21 raved about him (and morrison) about how good they both were going to be, i do remember one say that marchisio was going to have to watch out when Pogba went ot Juve, proved him right as he lost out with Pogba, Pirlo and Vidal....I couldn't believe Fergie didn't give him a chance when we were begging for players. One of his rare mistakes.

No Premier League club wanted to touch Kevin Davies with a barch pole when Southampton released him. 10 years at Bolton and an England cap later...

We and Bolton deemed Alan Ball too small to play football before he turned pro.

Does anyone actually think Kevin Davies was good?

Got in to double figures ONCE in his career and ended up with more bookings than goals.

Michail Antonio. Couldn't get in our team on a regular basis and on the rare occasions he played for us he looked average. Now he is playng well for West Ham and could get in the England squad at some point.

He is possibly the best loanee I think we have ever had - looked every bit a future Premier League star to be fair.

Always thought Kasper Schmeichel would never live up to his dads name. When he went to Nott's County and then Leeds I thought I was right...

Fingers crossed he wins the League and is able to step out of his dad's shadow a bit, he's an outstanding keeper in his own right.
