You do realise you are NOT allowed to give Salford any hope, So stop that right now.
I do realise you are getting excited with your very upmarket signings, so youre
forgiven this once.

I just think Salford will get it right eventually, and I suppose that applies to ourselves, too.

There hasn’t been a bigger buzz in pre-season since 2016. Never underestimate what can be achieved just when everyone pulls in the same direction.

For what it’s worth, there’s still question marks around our full-back positions and striking options - but our business in this window isn’t yet done - as per most clubs.

interesting to see where everyone else is predicting we will finish - people are saying everwhere from lower mid table to bottom. (I've seen about 10 you tube channels and all but 2 have us going down - and one of the 2 is a Barrow fan - and the other one has Stockport going down and us in 22nd!). I think we'll surprise people. Every area of the pitch we seam stronger than last year - we've even replaced Matty Platt with a full international Centre Back....
The enigma that is Barrow though is that your league performance has been poor, finishing close to the relegation zone twice despite anyone looking at the finer details of how you play and using stats concluding that you are doing most things right, and this having persisted through several managers' reigns. It may be just that you are making the same mistakes over and over and appointing managers who all fail in the same way but it also makes it hard to predict why Barrow will do well next season when positive signs in previous seasons haven't been enough to keep you out of the relegation battle.

Not sure why people get overly arsed about who predicts what, I can understand why people have us bottom two. You'd imagine most people's will have changed ten games into the season.

Yeah I was pleased when I saw Salford had missed out on the play offs yet again last season as at the time I thought our chances of winning our play offs was minuscule but now i wish they had made them and fucked off.

I'm quite happy for people to predict us to fail again - I'll get decent odds on us getting a top half finish - and i'll then be ecstatic if we finish 12th

what we have got this season is a young management team;- Wild has done well at Halifax and previously at Oldham. His assistant Adam Temple has worked in the academies of both Man City and Man United. We have also appointed Iain Wood as sporting director. They all individually and as a team seem the most clued up management we had had since Ian Evatt.

The bottom of that table is really difficult as there's nobody that is Scunny level bad or just being ran into the ground by a dodgy owner etc. Crewe will hang on grimly this season then do what they always do and win promotion the following year once the next crop of academy players have settled in.

Somewhat crude way of coming out of the closet. I hope you take him for a meal first and treat him with respect afterwards. Flowers at least.
Most of the services on the West Coast Main Line have a dinner service, presuming that arrives before Lockerbie and the train toilets haven't been too badly despoiled by then I think it'll all work out for them.

Quick question because I'm doing a prediction for a mate's podcast this evening and haven't got time to properly research.

A lot of people are positive on Northampton... any particular reason? Disappointing end to last season but is the assumption that they'll just pick up where they left off or have they made any specific signings etc.

With no obvious basket case, people are predicting the smaller sides like Barrow, Crawley and Harrogate, even Sutton filling the bottom two, just size based really but also Colchester (though if you look at their attendances at the moment you'd be hard pushed to guess they were an established league side who were in the Championship not that long ago) They were poor last season, no hints from anywhere that they might improve? Similar story with Rochdale?

None of the relegated sides seem especially fancied to challenge for promotion, what sort of state are they in? I've not heard much to suggest that any of their fans are expecting a season of struggle in League Two.

Everyone who’s put us top 3 will probably be wrong.

we’ll be 10 points clear with 1 game to go and still find a way to fuck it up.

Well we've signed 1 player at Wimbledon so at the moment I have absolutely no expectations for this season!! We need another 5 or 6 player's. However I do believe that we have a decent manager and assistant in Johnny Jackson and Terry Skiverton.

Based on absolutely nothing but gut feeling, I think your chance was last season - and of course, you blew it; hence why I haven’t included you in my top seven.

You any chance of going back in for Longstaff?

I’ll be honest, i find it hard to believe there are 7 better sides here, just i know how we can blow it.

If anything we will be stronger.

Longstaff was nice to have, but i’m not sure league 2 is for him, he was too lightweight, needed too much time on the ball and was unfit.

He’s clearly a better player than league 2 but i just didn’t think the rough and tumble of it suited him.

I don’t really want Longstaff back, doesn’t suit our style, and it doesn’t feel like it was our ‘chance’ last season so much because even though we made it to Wembley, we had a very disruptive season injury wise and a unsettled squad for a lot of it. It was Clough first full season too.

We need three important signings before I could predict a top three finish for Mansfield though.

I think we can all agree that we want our own clubs to do well and Salford and Harrogate to do badly.

Don’t think i’d miss harrogate.

They’ll be like dagenham or someone equally pointless, where when they’ve gone down that’s it and you’ll never see or hear from them again.

We are a complete unknown, we had so many injuries last season it stopped being a joke, we’ve started pre season with 21 players, last season we had to get 12 players in so in that sense we are more settled. Towards the end of last season we actually started to look looked a side but it came too late. We still need 3 more players minimum but I expect us to compete wether we are good enough to challenge totally depends on the injured players coming back as good, Clayton, Close, Taylor, Rowe, Anderson, Agard should all be more than good enough at this level.

Northampton are chucking the kitchen sink at it mate. Signed Danny Hylton and are going around doubling wages of L2 rivals to get them in like they did with our Ben Fox but we don't care, we actually think it's funny. Not bothered at all. Plus they always bounce back to L1 after a year or two don't they?

It looks as if our signings have caught the eye of our rivals. Lee Burge, Danny Hylton, Ben Fox, Shaun McWilliams resigning etc have all got the #highlyrated klaxon sounding. We’re also adding to a solid base of 6 or 7 first teamers that finished last season.

and you've got rid of Danny Rose which must be almost as good as getting a new signing
