  3. Wimbledon
  4. Leyton Orient
  5. Mansfield Town
  6. Salford City
  7. Tranmere Rovers
  8. Doncaster Rovers

  10. Crawley Town
  11. Swindon Town
  12. Newport County
  13. Hartlepool United
  14. Grimsby Town
  15. Gillingham
  16. Walsall
  17. Rochdale

  19. Colchester United
  20. Barrow
  21. Crewe Alexandra
  22. Harrogate Town
  23. Carlisle United
  24. Sutton United

Northampton and Bradford the standouts in my opinion. A 2 horse race till the end. Not many have Wimbledon promoted but usually there’s a team that go under the radar, they are them. They’ve added experience to the back line which i is very useful at this level, and with their location they’ll attract one or two more quality players before September. Orient with Wellens will also do well. The rest in the mix are widely expected.

Stockport and Grimsby will both have decent first seasons back. I’d expect Stockport to do the better of the two, and I have them missing out on the playoffs by a couple of points, but it wouldn’t be at all a surprise if they get in as they’ll probably strengthen further between now and September.

Hartlepool are the ones I have absolutely no clue about given I’ve never heard of most of their signings. The Scottish influx could go either way so it’s only fair to put them smack bang in the middle.

Most (not all) expect Carlisle to stay up this time after being one of the fans favourites for relegation most seasons and to be honest I was leaning towards survival, but that was on the basis of expecting us to have strengthened our weak areas a bit more by now. I feel we’re two or three signings away from being a solid 14th - 18th team, but as things stand we don’t have that and our defence and midfield don’t look strong enough, despite having a good manager. So with that in mind I’m saying relegation will bite us when fans least expect it. Hope I’m wrong obviously.

Sutton I feel may struggle so I’ve put them down, they seem to have lost a few players, likewise Harrogate but they’ll probably survive. Crewe have recruited two of our poorer defenders from last season, so that’s all I’m basing their struggle on, but they’ll just about stay out of trouble.

Mansfield can book that open top bus that gave us so much joy in 2013.
Stockport will dominate most teams and finish second
Northampton Saints second team will get the third spot.
Mark Hughes will chalk up another destroy and exit victim as Bradford fail in the play-offs. Tranmere to take the play-off promotion spot.
Nearly everyone thinks we'll finish 13th so I go with that and an FA Cup jaunt to the 5th round.

Colchester and Harrogate to go to hell below us.

It's interesting that a lot of predictions either have us top 7 or someone deep in the lower half, with no real in between.

I think personally that may be because you lot are mostly northern and we're the type of club you just 'fill the gaps' with on things like this when you remember we exist .

It's hard to argue with the majority of other League 2 fans and pundits having us in the bottom two based off the last two seasons. I'm cautiously optimistic however that we may reach the lower dregs of mid table, we've got a manager that's at least on his way up as opposed to those off the conveyor belt and all our signings have improved us on paper as opposed to those we released.

Us and Bradford have the highest number of new recruits. Be interesting to see, or if, how long they take to bed in.

Jack is a development signing not first team. Though arguably so are Hughes and Jameson unless we have an injury crisis.

Fair enough. Someone on our forum just put together a thread of ins and out and I assume he just took the ins and outs from the internet without drilling down into the details too much!

Jameson is 24 in a few weeks and played regularly in the EFL for a couple of seasons - development signing is a bit of a stretch...
He’s 5th or 6th choice CB.

He’s very quick and powerful, so the thought is that with much better coaches, can they iron out the mistakes in his game?

He’ll play primarily U23s & papa John’s etc so I’d class that as development signing.

We don’t seem to have a L2 masi or DevonLad. We need an official spouter of bollocks to liven things up.

DL has already claimed Exeter as L1 champions elect. Is there anyone on here who could match that level of fuckwittery?

Ooh you bitch!

I suspect that I am going to be ending up with a huge amount of egg on my face come the end of the season as Hartlepool could very well be one of the sides that surprises everyone and whilst a lot of sides in the league have had significant player turnover I just don't think putting together half a squad of players from the Scottish lower leagues is going to cut it. I've said before that I really hope Paul Hartley is a success and he did fantastically at Cove Rangers so he must have something about him. I dunno, I just see alarm bells at Victoria Park. It was a bit of a toss up between Carlisle or Hartlepool to join Colchester in going down in all honesty CR.

Good game, good game but in truth nobody knows. A lot of people tipping us to be champions but that is something we don't actually do. Obviously we hope that we have made good signings who will perform together as a team but we won't really know until around October. Similarly, I haven't a clue about the signings made by the teams being tipped for the drop. 5 years ago, we made what looked like signings so good, we were tipped for PO's; We finished 24th.

How many Scots? And are you going to be Preston Invincibles or Scotland in the World Cup...?
We are now know as Hartlepool Celtic, But on matchdays we are PartyPoopers Utd.
Going to upset an awful lot of fans, But we don,t care.

Can't figure out the relegation spots but here goes...

Northampton
Bradford
Orient
Swindon
Mansfield
Tranmere
Stockport
Walsall
Doncaster
Gillingham
Wimbledon
Salford
Rochdale
Newport
Crawley
Sutton
Hartlepool
Grimsby
Stevenage

Colchester

To be honest, from Crawley down I see it as interchangeable. Any of us could be drawn into the mire. Harrogate and Colchester at the bottom only because I haven't seen anything inspiring in their signings more than I'm sure that's where they'll finish.

Pretty sure of the top 3 but down to Gillingham it is mixable and we all know a decent forward in January can run a team up the league.

Not confident in this prediction at all.

Are Carlisle going to finish so far adrift at the bottom that it isn’t even worth putting us in the league table?

To be honest I always confuse Tranmere with Oldham for some reason, as a result I’d completely forgotten you were in this league until there was someone missing.

Sorry about that, but you’ll have to make do with 22nd I’m afraid.

This has been one of the hardest season's to do a prediction, as there are no stand-out sides well above the rest or obvious basket cases. I'm fairly confident of the top four, though not the order; put Stockport as missing out on the automatics as they have more inexperience at this level, but might be wrong. After that anybody's guess. Reckon any of the sides from Sutton down could end up in the relegation places.

Rovers have a lot of new players and are short of cover in a couple of key areas. If everything clicks and those key players stay fit, we're capable of making the play-offs, more absences and the team failing to gel and down with the strugglers. Hence my prediction for us bang in the middle of that range.
