I'm pretty new here and haven't yet seen the goals from today so could someone help me out - do I take what D4E is saying as fact or is he/she one of these who struggles to accept defeat no matter what has gone on in the match?
I said Vale deserved to win. We were awful defensively but does that mean I shouldn't comment on pathetic officiating? 2-1 would have been fair on reflection and looking back on those goals. Half time would have been 0-0 if it weren't for the offside goal and penalty.

Have a look http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/teams/rochdale/10255760/port-vale-4-1-rochdale

In fairness you might have a point on the first 2 goals although the camera angle and lack of replays doesn't help. Seems quite strange that the Dale players moaned more about the awarding of the 2nd, more obvious, penalty than the 1st one.

1st goal offside on viewing the highlights and 1st penalty not a penalty. We shouldn't have got ourselves into the position we got into though. 2nd penalty was a penalty. Still stand by my earlier posts about how disgraceful the officials were today.

But you got three points against us earlier in the season for a diabolical decision to give a penalty so it all evens out surely?

That's what they say about football. A poor refereeing decision against you one week, is evened out by one going for you another week

Maybe it does. But I'm only commenting on today on this thread. I know we won 2-1 at home to Vale, and I remember thinking at the time the penalty we got was soft. Like I say I reckon 2-1 would have been fair today. Going forward second half we were a lot better. Had Lillis to thank for some decent saves too which kept the score down in the end.

Judging by reports and our managers comments it could of been 8 so sounded as though 4-1 was deserved but like I said both sides have done well this season and bodes well for next year

The first isn't offside. There is no touch after the long ball forward.

That's a great shout. Just watched the first a couple more times and I would say you are probably right in which case offside doesn't even come into it

Constantly? Find another post this season where I've blamed a ref and I'll buy you a pint.

Is everyone else in this away stand wrong too then about how dire he's been today then?

Also 2 mins added? How??
EVERYONE in the away stand??

Some of the chants and comments from in there today were an embarrassment.

Dale fans sing at the end 'the referees a w***er... And '4-1 to the referee'. You really here Dawlish?
How was it 4-1 to the referee?

It looked like Rafferty who misplaced a pass for the third and conceded a penalty for the fourth.

It looked like Eastham and Lancashire fannying around before the first penalty.

It looked like Theo Robinson scoring the first.

You need to grow up.

Are you at the match Rotherham?! I've not blamed a ref all season this season this one though is on another planet.

In fact I don't even need to ask if you're here because if you were you wouldn't have posted the above.

It won't let me copy and paste on an iPad! However, dale4ever, click your username and look back through your postings: Millwall, chesterfield, Scunny; refs get a mention in them all.

Just watched the highlights, first goal is onside as said he JJ doesn't touch it, good finish from Theo.

First penalty incident is one of those, it's one I'd be disappointed not to get as he knocks him off balance as he's about to rifle a shot on goal, but can see why you'd argue the other way in that could be perceived as a tangle of legs. JJ should of scored in th build up mind!

Second goal is a poor back pass, decent finish, Calvins goal is a stunner fair play to him was awful at VP.

Second pen is nailed on, awful defending, no need to do that.

1st goal not offside. Their lad ran from behind Lancashire . Those around us agreed that no Dale player touched the ball, although quite a few at half time seem to have imagined a touch which would have made him offside. Clearly no-one touched it on highlights. Referee correct.

1st Penalty: Result of McNulty fannying around with the ball and giving an awful pass to Lancashire, who was wrong footed. When the ball is played back, I couldn't tell who (looks on highlights to be Rose) clipped their player as he was about to shoot. No complaints from Dale players which speaks volumes. This would be the only slightly contentious decision leading to a goal all day. Can see why it was given. No blame on ref having seen it again.

3rd goal: Rafferty cock up when he should have gone forward. No blame on referee.

Calvins goal is very good indeed. Should have led to us making a real go of things.

4th Goal: Rafferty again. Looked a clear push from 100yards away. When you look at the highlights; their player wouldn't have got to the cross, so even more stupid. No blame on referee.

Bad day at the office...followed by the worst KFC experience I've ever had in the Burslem branch. Disgusting!!!

Calvin Andrew was not as bad as some Vale fans say he was. He was played more as a winger type player, he held the ball up well. Hill is getting the best out of him, his goal was great yesterday.

Ref was poor throughout but for both sides, apparently he has a penchant for red cards yet only gave one yellow all game when there was the possibility of easily 4 or 5. One decision at our end he gave from 100 yards away the opposite to the linesman who was 10 yards away. The 2nd penalty was' soft' but the ball was on it's way for a goal kick it was an absolutely ridiculous push by the Rochdale lad.

Almost feel we have missed a trick this season by missing out as in my opinion it is a poor league. The fact we go to Scunny and they are now 2 points off the play-offs. 6th place is occupied by a team who lost 7 in a row ,and over the 180 minutes i have seen Bradford are a god damn awful side, next year i don,t see Bolton or Charlton doing a Wigan, MK Franchise probably be top 6 ish. As Page says ' we go again ' .

Overall got to be satisfied but i stand by my posts all season long that Page is a scaredy cat negative manager away from home and it has cost us big time.

Do you not think away results have improved a bit the last couple of months? Including the awful Chesterfield result, we've played 5, won 2, drawn 2, lost 1 since the beginning of March. Hoping this is something we can build on going into next season and lessons have been learned.

i agree they have, but performances like Bradford, Bury, Sarfend and Sheff Utd all rankle with me, particularly Sheff Utd where he played the name instead of a mediocre side who were there for the taking. But they have definitely improved though wasn,t hard either !!!
