I am also expecting us to lose at home to Dover and having an early slot on the highlights show that I won't be watching.

Love the 1st round, saddens me that a lot of lower league fans treat it with the sane disdain that fans of Premier League and Championship teams do in round 3/4.

Well we're supposedly going to be playing our strongest side, although its maybe an opportunity to give a couple of players a rest. In my opinion, we should line up as follows:

051116112512.png

Subs: King, Potts, Smith, Gray, Cook, Marriott, Vassell

Marriott has a slight knock.

Gilliead plays in midfield for you?

With us he was he was either a striker or winger. Can't imagine him playing in midfield as he was a bit of a fanny when it came to putting a foot in.

I'd prefer him playing on the right wing, but we don't play with midfield wingers. Unless we've changed something in the last couple of weeks of me not seeing us play, we seem to be pretty stringent in the 4-4-2 diamond.

Take it he's doing ok?

He just strikes me as a bit light and a lack of defensive attributes to play that central midfield role.

You're right he is a bit light weight but has to be said though he has by all accounts done a decent job of winning the ball high up the pitch in good areas for us in recent games. He also in my opinion tends to play slightly wider than the other 3 in the diamond or Cook on the other side but that might just be me.

Jones was raving about Gilliead after the Notts County game so I'd expect him to be getting into the 11 a lot more regularly now.

For the third time (potentially) this season, we've had an injury in the warm up. We've won both previous occasions away from home.

Don't understand our selection - it seems Ramseyesque - no wingers, probably Berrett in the Bobby Charlton role, or maybe Berrett is Martin Peters, which means Disley is Charlton...no...I'm just confused. It must be 4-2-1-1-2...

Danny Hylton (pen) - 9th of the season. Very controversial apparently; no appeals from Luton players. Chipped it in Jason Walker-style, for those who know all about that one...

None of our midfielders can tackle so he fits right in. Jones doesn't seem to care overly much about defensive attributes apart from the holding player in the diamond, we often have three players out of four who would be most at home in the #10 spot. When we are on top it can be exciting to watch but we do sometimes (and increasingly in recent times it has to be said) struggle to impose ourselves on games as a result.

...and the referee and the players are losing the plot.

This has to be one of the worst penalty decisions I've seen in a long time:

And Pelly Ruddock has been given a second yellow for being pushed in the neck to the ground. What is this referee doing?

All our stats from the game look good, save the ones that really matter...56% possession, 100 more passes than Bolton, double their corner count and 5 more shots off target, even 30% of the attendance!

...no goals again, only 2 shots on target, no goals from open play in 10 games. I'd like to think Rhys Browne will get more of a chance under the new manager (Bignot?).

That's why it was a meh draw, unlikely to win, shitty crowd of only 7k including 2k town fans.

Better to play a game were expected to win for 2 rounds and get to third round, than draw a crappy lge 1 side

First half we were the better side, second half Luton were. Penalty decisions looked harsh but I didn't have a great view of either. Red card was right. Not sure on the refs reasoning for it but for me, Ruddock deliberately stopped Wheeler getting to the ball by holding on to it and running off after a free kick was given. Wheeler should have been off as well for his reaction but definite red card for the Luton player. Ampadu was absolute class in midfield today. I can't stress at just how good he is, it's amazing he's only recently turned 16. The Luton staff were also very impressed. Nathan Jones made the effort to shake his hand and praise his performance as he came off, as did the rest of the Luton staff at full time.

Disappointed to go out. I guess we just used up our luck on getting to the 3rd round last year.

Opposition fans should probably think twice before calling for a Luton player to be sent off in the future. Luton have a 100% winning record when getting a man sent off this season, now up to four wins out of four.
