It will be interesting to see how January affects this season. You’ve unfancied teams like Newport, Carlisle, Morecambe and Cambridge up there, whilst most pre season favourites such as Vale, Mansfield, Tranmere, Bolton and Bradford haven’t done well.

Newport and FGR have lost some big players so can they replace them losses? Will Morecambe keep Adams?

All the aforementioned teams who were fancied have changed manager bar Bolton so can any fortunes change? All clubs too that should have spending power. Could be an interesting second half of the season and no one is guaranteed anything at this stage.

Carlisle and Cheltenham may benefit from others around them losing players. If Cambridge can keep a tune out of Mullin and keep Hoolahan fit they will fancy chances.

It’s quite an open one. We’ve played more games but we’ve won 2 in 13 and are only 6 points behind the PO’s. It’s crazy.

We need 45 points roughly from our remaining 23 games to stand a chance of making the play offs which is title winning form which I can't see us doing. Probably need 20 points to stay up which we should comfortably get providing we don't lose worrall conlon and a few others to injury again. We will most likely do slightly better 2nd half of the season end up finishing on 60 points which would be around 12th.

Just looking at the League table we’ve played away at 5 of the top 10 and we won 3 of them at Cheltenham Crawley and Orient so I’m therefore adding us to this thread as we are obviously a really good team in a very false position.

Thanks.

End of January and first half of February is an insane run of fixtures for us.

That right there is our season in six games. The equivalent points haul from those six teams in the first half of the season was 9 (three wins, three defeats). If we can better that, I'd want us to target over 12 points, then we could become almost impossible to dislodge from the automatic places.

We have three games before this run starts, but even if we lose momentum in those three games, these six will still be massive. Seven points from those three (Harrogate, Orient and Mansfield) would be very nice indeed.

My hopes would be, beat Newport, Cheltenham, Crawley and Salford, three teams we beat earlier in the season, plus an out of form (at the moment) Cheltenham, and then pick up a point from one of either FGR or Exeter.

I think our style of play makes us meat and drink for this Carlisle team.

Having said that I dont think we can play quite as poorly as we did in the game at Crawley.

Just getting a bad feeling we won’t even get through these fixtures. With the criticism of the scenes in the FA Cup with Marine fans and Chorley players etc, think the government might intervene and stop all football which would be a right fucking boot in the bollocks as there’s no way they’d do PPG when we’re not even half way through the season. Hope Im wrong.

We have a COVID outbreak at Carlisle United. 4 players positive.

This could be where our season unravels and I did warn Carver when he was crowning us champions that we’ve been very fortunate with no COVID cases and it were to happen our small squad could be hit very hard.

Fortunately we’ll be staying up. The point I was making the other day was a lot of things can happen that can fuck up a promotion push. It was selling Wyke and not replacing a few years back, it was appointing Steven Pressley that fucked it 2 seasons ago, it could be bad luck with COVID this season.
Let’s hope 4 players out at once is as bad as it gets.

Casey, Mike Wright, what do you think about signing him? PR stunt, worthy of his place or too early to say?

Is it too early to start the mid table thread?

I’ve just seen his interview and it also sounds like a bit of a mess up there with no training ground and training in seperate groups.

It's hard to say because we don't see him but I watched a friendly game (v Reading u23) on youtube and he looked competent but we had a left back from last season still with us and we had already signed Nick Tsaroulla (see his goal v Leeds) who is an attacking left back.

Would we have signed a 33 year old player whose position was already covered if he didn't bring lots of publicity? I would say no but I can't see John Yems getting on board with it unless there was some sort of player in there.

Casey

Edit: I cannot see him getting any games. Dallison has been really good playing there and now Doherty is back to fitness and Tsaroulla looks a find.

The training ground is fucked. The whole club is a shambles and the training situation just sums us up. Makes the job our manager has done even more miraculous when you consider the shit show he has to work for.

Back in the 90’s we signed Wolf from Gladiators, I think he only played 2 reserve games (he was in his 40’s too), that was definitely just for some publicity.

Used to live in a bungalow with his Mum just up the road from my secondary school. Once turned on the Locksbottom Christmas lights because Let Loose’s taxi driver took them to the wrong Farnborough.

Are you not training in separate groups? Thought it was something everyone had to do.

no. We’re having to train in groups of 8 because 8 is the maximum number that can fit in the Neil centre which is the only facility we currently have to train. If we had a full size pitch that wasn’t fucked the whole first team squad would be training together.

That 4th player has now tested positive at Carlisle.

so 4 players missing through COVID on Saturday (as things stand), there may end up being more!

Carver this is what happens when you prematurely ejaculate your load.

Now we’re coming up against the form team in the league with a depleted squad ravaged by Coronavirus and injuries.

Although I don't want to see us go out and sign players willy-nilly, because that rarely works, I think with only one loanee in the squad at present we're well placed to use the loan market to increase our strength in depth going into the second half of the season and make sure your prediction doesn't come true.

I think most teams in the top half this season will feel they have more to lose by not-strengthening, because there's little managers can do to prevent losing half their squad at some point, it's just a case of how much strengthening you can actually do given reduced income and salary caps, so having available slots for loan players could prove a big benefit to us.

So what, we can still win this league with our reserve team and I even believe our youth team is good enough to still get us promoted if they have to be called upon too.

You just have to have more faith in all the clubs players, not just the senior team.

Statements like this are why nobody takes you seriously on here.

Well maybe they should then, considering we've been top of the league for almost 2 weeks now without even playing.

Enjoy playing the likes of Dorking Wanderers next season..

What about the fact the players (youth or senior) have no where to train?
Is that little problem not going to halt our title surge?

No and if anything it'll make our title win even more heroic.

The plucky team who won the league and they had nowhere to train!
