11/4 Canelo to win by points or decision, thanks Paddy! Always nice to wake up to money.

I agree. Plenty are going to though! And already are. Nature of the beast when it's a 7-5 either way or draw is fine fight though as you rightly say.

Think it was always likely to be a trilogy after the draw as nobody could have gone 2-0. Tonight helps that idea even more.

I agree it really was that close though, I had Canelo up 5-2 and then GGG bringing it back to end up leading going into last round, Canelo did enough to win the round and therefore a draw on mine. I didn’t understand the BT commentary at all, they had GGG winning round after round and up by about 4, clearly not the case.

For me they’ve both done enough to win 1 fight each and a trilogy is perfect, but GGG is going to be an old man next time unfortunately.

Legendary fighters the pair of them, tough as nails. A GGG of 5 years ago wins every time though and probably by stoppage.

Well, you can complain considering that fight was probably more of a draw than the first one, which GGG clearly won. So after two fights GGG is 0-1-1 against the future of the sport who happens to be in a far more profitable market. Hmmmmmm, boxing. I would have been beyond shocked if a close fight wasn't called in Canelo's favour, given that it is easier to set up the trilogy after the champion loses his belts and is owed a rematch. $$$.

GGG will be a year older, Canelo in his prime and though this trilogy should probably be 1-1-0 in his favour, he's likely to be 0-1-2 by this time next year. And that's a legacy killer.

Good post Ren. Was speaking really on the 36 minutes from last night, hadn't thought too much about the bigger picture. But I think what you say is right, providing it does eventually go 0-1-2. Old man GGG making it 1-1-1 though could be a legacy cementer...

Going back to just last night in isolation, as you say it was more of a draw than the first, which means someone (anyone) getting the nod by a single round isn't exactly a travesty (not saying you said it was). I wanted GGG to win FWIW and would have given him the nod me sen.

I wanted GGG to win as much as anyone and was gutted at the result but just couldn't ignore the work Canelo was doing. He put in a great performance, a real warrior. The pair of them deserve every dollar they will receive.

I'm not sure who else he could fight at middleweight that would be a bigger draw than a third GGG fight. I think Saunders would cause Canelo some problems and there's the WBO up for grabs but it's still not bigger commercially than another GGG rematch. The likes of Jacobs and Andrade could be options, Jacobs with his size and movement would be a nightmare for Canelo I reckon.

GGG could legitimately feel he's been robbed in both fights. I could have stomached another draw but to take away GGG's unbeaten record after Saturday night leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I had him ahead by 3 rounds.

Saying that, Canelo was awesome. He clearly believed he could take anything GGG threw at him and just kept pushing forward.

There isn't another fight in boxing that I'd rather watch than the third in this trilogy. It was brilliant.

BJS would cause all kinds of issues for Canelo to the point where I think he could beat him. Would have to be out of Vegas though.

I was impressed with AJ turning that fight around last night. Having your nose seemingly broken first round isn't easy to work around, visibility and breathing issues etc. That short Joe Lewis style right is a great shot, unreal amount of power from no wind up. Povetkin is no mug and stylistically horrible for Joshua, he struggles with this short guys who can get inside and throw big hooks round the sides. I'm not AJs biggest fan but I was impressed with that. If he gets a fight with Wilder though he doesn't need to be getting tagged with that many shots.

Nah Povetkin is 40 years old, inches shorter in height & reach, isn't fast twitch and doesn't move. AJ was his stylistic nightmare - hence the complete lack of tall explosive fighters on his resume, Price is literally the closest he's come to AJ in his long professional career. This was the most standard defence AJ could wish for he had everything in his favour over his opponent. He shouldn't have took a single blow let alone get close to being wobbled.

I think for hype & fan fare AJ is the most overrated boxer in my time of following the sport. My god put him in a ring with the Gypsy King and that mouth breathing after 2 rounds wannabe Jordan will get brutalised.

Is there anything more utterly tedious than the new "Hype Roadshows" (my own term) that are now apparently necessary to sell the bigger fights?

McGregor and Mayweather have a lot to answer for.

It is tedious and embarrassing. It wouldn’t be so bad if they actually stayed ‘in character’ for the duration of the promotion. Not be best mates one minute then being helmets to each other the next time they meet.

Fury is hilarious yes, but when it's all fake it's hard to watch and cringe, yeah I know they are trying to sell the fight but since I'm not a matchrooom casual **** I don't need this to get me interested.

He is very funny, no doubt about it. Compare him to the robotic Joshua and I know who I'd rather listen to.

On this topic, Dillian Whyte is also hilarious. Dave Allen too.

Good effort by Callum Johnson against the beast Beterbiev, he dropped him but got stopped in the 4th. You sort of assume all these Beasts from the East have concrete jaws but maybe it isn't true. Beterbiev was on wobbly legs when he got up and Johnson should have run the risk of getting caught but forced it more.

Just seen Inoue with a first round KO in the WBSS. Total monster and for me the most exciting fighter on the planet currently.

Johnson admitted to freezing when he dropped Beterbiev. Shame because Johnson is a good finisher, maybe he's set the blueprint on how to beat him?

Tbf Callm wasn't helped by the ref letting Beterbiev have a free shot when he was caught in the ropes.

After Ortiz, that's probably his second best win.

Fury on jre has been a genuine dream of mine for a couple of years. Swerve the conspiracy stuff and it's sure to be great.

It's worth an hour or so of anyone's time. He is fascinating and the general public don't see what he is really like.

Imagine Joshua on here, an hour's worth of media trained, carefully executed fake robotic answers :ffs:

I'm a bit sad it wasn't a 3 hour bonanza. Hopefully after the fight they'll do a big one.
