Macclesfield Town/Manchester City. It's complicated.
Seems that wherever you find groups of rich, powerful men, you find paedophiles, using that power to cover things up.

And religion. I'm afraid to say huge sections of the Abrahamic religions have long, proud traditions of sexual abuse that make the Branch Davidians look like a flash in the pan. Once these boys are abused at a young age, they're broken for life, and need huge amounts of our support.

Another sickly tradition is that of infant circumcision, where some rabbis clean—actually, google it as I don't think we can add spoiler tags to posts on here. There are huge legions of paedophiles out there. Cracking them is a huge challenge, especially when hiding behind religion, the dark web, or whatever it may be.

Sexual abuse is common to all sects, creeds etc. Only one Political party wants to protect sexual abusers though, the Tory party.

You seem to see more and more women involved these days. Dunno if it's more prevalent or police just are more enlightened about going after them now.

I think the internet has a lot to answer for in that regard. Especially with child pornography, I'm always surprised when women are involved.

Also seems to be a lot of female teaching assistants being done for sleeping with their pupils. Possibly just facebook media such as 'ladbible' reports that kind of thing though.

Perhaps its because we are finally starting to see an albeit small shift away from the viewpoint that women are innocent little victims incapable of committing the same heinous acts that men do?

There's been a tendency to see them as accessories in these sort of crimes, rather than equal partners, for centuries. The reality is that there has probably been numerous female sex offenders.

I think that's most likely the case. Also, women are literally incapable of committing some of the same acts as men, so perhaps there's a recognition that different types of sexual abuse are equally serious and damaging.

The legal system needs a serious overhaul when it comes to gender neutrality on this issue in the UK. By our legal definition women aren't even deemed capable of rape. A woman could pin someone down and rape them with a strapon and the law could still never prosecute her as a rapist.

So they've been doing that exact thing. And just getting away with it. Fucking sickening.

They would still get prosecuted, just with a lesser charge of sexual assault. There was a story about a stripper at a stag do that did it.

A woman can legally rape a man if she acts as an accomplice but you're otherwise right. It basically boils down to the way the offence is defined in law though (essentially penile penetration without consent) - as a woman doesn't possess a penis she obviously can't be tried for this offence. In order to redress the apparent imbalance you'd have to broaden the definition of what actually constitutes rape. Women can of course be tried for serious sexual assault (I believe sexual assault by penetration, which your hypothetical assailant would presumably be guilty of, carries fairly similar sentencing guidelines, and also lays down a maximum penalty of life imprisonment).

Unfortunately there's a significant amount of work required in the legal system when it comes to issues regarding gender, women are still receiving lighter sentences than men for the same crime based against on these pre-conceived notions about their "feminine nature", not only does it re-enforce infantilising narratives about women, it stereotypes men as abusive aggressors whose crimes are somehow "worse". We've come a long way when it comes to prosecuting rape, but equally the problems outlined above prove that work needs to be done to open up prosecution for victims who've been abused by women too, they are as much rape victims as victims of male abusers are.
