Captain Scumbag Unless I'm going mad (quite conceivable, admittedly) I'm sure you responded to my post on Saturday. I imagine you made it disappear but just to clarify - when I referred to "direct democracy" it was really the Lib Dem push for a second referendum on the terms of Brexit I had in mind rather than parliament approving Article 50 (very much my fault for failing to make this clear). I think the two things are very much interlinked so far as the Lib Dems are concerned, anyway i.e. the official stance, so far as I'm aware, is that their MPs will oppose A50 in the Commons unless there's a promise of a second referendum. Given that the Prime Minister has given little indication as to what Brexit might look like, and given that the Lib Dems gave their backing to a referendum on EU membership in the first instance this demand seems pretty reasonable and coherent to me, irrespective of whatever nefarious Europhile motives one might wish to ascribe to them. Think this is basically what I was trying to articulate.
