Myself and Craig are considering purchasing sheepskin coats. I was wondering if any of you fine folk have ever owned or indeed wish to own one of these fine garments. What are the pros and cons ?
Thread is also open for amusing stories about coats, reminiscing about coats you've owned or continue to own and any aspirations you may have regarding coats.
Enjoy

My coat collection is lacking at the moment to say the least, but I hope to rectify that as I have done the hat situation recently.

Memorable coats I've owned in the past include my dad's old NCB donkey jacket, my Naf co 54 from the 90's and a Duffel coat that got me through many a harsh northern winter.

Memorable coats that I have owned include a lovely army surplus jacket on which I sewed patches advertising my fav bands of the time. An eclipse jacket which had a stylised, dreadlocked man smoking a spliff on it and a particularly nice crombie which I still own FYI

There's a feller who makes the same commute as me has one of those, wears it in all weathers, I'm in awe of the man if I'm honest.

Where do folk stand on denim jackets? I had one back when I was a teenager and I was quite fond of it.

Denim or leather? there's an idea for a poll, Aber.

My first 'adult' coat and one of my favourite ever was a muddy-green scruffy thing from next. You know one of those where you pay more to make it look like you paid less?

I'm a fan of the denim jacket tbh. I know they have fallen out of fashion in recent years but I'm a sucker for a bit of stonewashed !

Ah , the expensive "tramp" coat. Very nice but unfortunately there was limited places in the poll. Apologies

My best was definitely a British Railways driver's coat passed on by a family friend when he retired - saw me through Uni warm and dry; Fitted perfectly with the pinstripe waistcoat donated by granddad and pinstripe insert flares for my Levis rescued by mam from the suit trousers.

The JACKET that accompanied my high fashion COAT to Uni was swapped with a mate who had more fashion sense. Essentially it would have fitted well on the cover of Sergeant Pepper - purple, complete with epaulettes and brass buttons but a bit less brocade.

I'd recommend sheepskin pilot's jackets over coats unless you fancy the almost Afghan look. I do see you both as more Adam Faith meets Rory Gallagher than John Motson lite.

Back in the early naughties I owned an expensive Khaki Stone Island anorak from Germany, probably blew too much on it. My missus at the time spilt wine on it. It never came out. The relationship ended soon afterwards, so make your own conclusions.

I had a similar experience with a lovely beige aquascutum trench coat. Rioja all over it, soaked right through to the lining. No one to blame but myself unfortunately!

Aquascrotum as it was known in our house when my posh cousin bought one.

I have a denim jacket I bought in 2000. I haven't worn it since about 2001 but can't bring myself to chuck it. Trouble is with the denim jacket, what trousers to wear? You can't wear jeans obvs, as you look like a Quo fan, or maybe Bo Selecta-era Craig David.

What about chinos ? Add some boat shoes ( with no socks ) and a straw hat. You will look great, honest.

I own a few coats. I own a brown coat and a black coat, both from Reiss, which I think are the smartest coats going. They cost a bit, but with coats you get what you pay for. They are warm, high quality and cool as hell.

I also have a barbour style coat, which is a lot more casual but also very stylish. Got it from Zara for about 70 quid which is fuck all.

Got a navy duffel coat which does the job. Possibly should invest in a lighter jacket for the warmer months.
