Massively underrated and seen as a joke by thickos, Dolly can write some beautiful stuff amongst the schmaltz that pays the bills.

There's a DAB station you can get in some parts of the UK (from memory it's the London area, Manchester, Portsmouth and a couple of other places) called Chris Country, which plays some reasonably good songs every now and then. My other half is a big fan, so I have had to get used to it. I also quite like this:

I would say, from my (albeit fairly limited experience) the new Nashville seems to dominate a lot of the dominant taste for contemporary country music, which is a shame. There are about 1/4 of songs I really like, and the rest I find quite irritating. There was an hour or so of older stuff I heard recently that I thought was really excellent.

I kinda like some of the unashamed redneck stuff like kenny chesney( even if deep down I know it's shite) I do struggle with the over produced " hell yeah, freedom, tea party " nonsense from Carrie Underwood et al .

This Jimmy Webb classic has been performed by many artists but, for me, Glen Campbell's are the best. A wonderful song.

I love a bit of country music. So does the bloke in the video I think, I just enjoyed watching him take the piss out of, as he calls it, " modern, stadium country music".
