Wonderful knock by Zak Crawley today against a high class bowling attack. I know it’s only one knock but you can tell when someone looks the real deal and he looks like he always has time to play his shots.

For the first time in a long time can be excited about some of the batting talent in England.

Saw this earlier :

"Zak Crawley has now got a higher Test score than Sachin Tendulkar and Jacques Kallis ever did, insane stat"

If we'd enforced the follow-on the the game would be just about wrapped up by now!

We'll still probably win, but why do we make it hard for ourselves?

I can see them batting it out and clinging on for a draw.

Thought we might have declared a bit earlier to be honest before we got out, as once Bess/Butler went we were just delaying the inevitable

I wouldn't want to risk batting last on this pitch, enforcing the follow on would have opened up the possibility of an India win when we still had plenty of time to win it without the follow on. With 2 days to go, not enforcing the follow-on was the right move. Don't get the fuss about the declaration either, if we can't bowl them out in over a day on this pitch, we don't deserve to win.

Yeah, it was easy for me to type that when they were 7 wickets down but I would have thought the same thing if I woke up to find that they had somehow got to 200-1.

It also left then chance that India could have batted the day out for a draw.

Do you seriously think that India would have scored 421 following on?

Very unlikely but they'd have only needed to score 350 or so to make things difficult for us. No-one was surviving day 5 on that pitch with 9 wickets to play with.

I guess they just had faith in our bowlers .

Anderson for example has that magic spell in him.

350 would have meant that we would have needed 30 to win.

If we'd have enforced the follow on we would have won by an innings and 100+ runs.

Doesn’t really matter now .

Got the job done.

They obviously had the confidence to get the win in a day .

After a good start fair to say it’s been tough going.

Rohit and Rahane in top form.

Not a bad day for England in the end. Especially playing against 14 men.

I fear India’s 300 is already well above par though.

Sharma is a great player to watch when he's on form. I fear he's done too much damage to England but I enjoyed watching it.

That umpiring for the Rahane review was, at best, absolutely incompetent.

Fortunately he was out soon after.

Another couple of iffy calls today but won’t make much difference.

We were on the back foot once we lost to the toss.

Yes - just a of when.

We didn’t bowl too badly to start with but Ashwin really killed us with that century.

Haha Kohli complaining about the umpires after all that’s happened before.

I’m expecting it to be over before lunch tomorrow.

I fear this series will end 3-1 to the hosts. We lack a top 3 and spinners of the class of Ashwin.

Yes - if it’s any like football they’ll moan enough to make sure the next decision goes India’s way .
