Michael Vaughan nalis it every time. Root brilliant batsman (don't like batter), but oftern woeful when winning the toss and as MV said should be crowding the @rabbits, not having half the fielders on the boundary. He should be Chairman of the Selectors.

It’s all too predictable isn’t it. From the moment they came out with the wrong tactics this morning against the tail have just spiralled from there.

With Root back in the pavilion I’m not very confident in our chances but you can’t just rely on him to constantly bail us out.
It was a case of when not if ..

I see Sibley has been dropped with Malan back in so going back to previous option now .

Yeah this is where the ECB have backed themselves into a corner with the way this summer has been scheduled focusing on the hundred. There’s almost no County Championship cricket for anyone to stake a claim so you’re really limited to retreads. Personally I’d have looked at James Vince over Malan as the former at least has the better technique even if he in the past he keeps getting out after doing the hard part.

I hope am wrong but I don’t see any way back into the series and the ECB are completely at fault in my view.

Wow - great bowling and now 100-0.

Well it’s going so well you feel it cannot continue!

Not getting my hopes up as England just could easily collapse tomorrow and let them in. The bowling was absolutely brilliant though, just hope the batting backs it up again tomorrow.

Put together another brilliant day from England. All of the top four contributing. Root played a brilliant innings but am pleased we're not just relying on him for once.

Should be a straightforward win for England in the next day or two I'd imagine weather allowing.

That's why I love test cricket. England utterly out-played in the first two, but came back magnificently to win that. I guess that the change at the top of the batting made all the difference, plus Ollie is a great find.

Think it’s been an excellent performance and am glad England proved me wrong as didn’t think they could come back from the Lords capitulation.

Ollie Robinsons bowling is absolutely brilliant. The scorecard doesn’t reflect it but the support he had at the other end from Jimmy was superb (he could have had Kohli about 5 times today). I think there is a question mark on Curran at the moment, if Wood is fit he should come in for him or if need be the all rounder then maybe look at getting Woakes back in the squad.

Carnage again. The Indians simply can't handle the conditions and the way the England bowlers exploit it is excellent to watch. If only we could take our pitches away...

Disappointed for Hameed. Desperately want him to succeed, but it stalled a bit there yesterday.

It was a bit unfortunate for him. Think it was wide enough to cut just probably bounced a little extra which tends to happen at the Oval.

Good partnership between Bairstow and Pope this morning. Looked like England could fold for under 100 early on but these two have looked to score and now put some pressure back on India. Need to get up and beyond India now.

Pope looking good on home turf.

Hopefully Woakes can stick around a bit .

Yeah he’s done well. Moeen showed why he’s one of the most watchable yet frustrating batsmen in cricket. He and Pope had India on ropes and then Moeen gave it away completely needlessly to open an end up. Should have just kept playing normally as his quality means he will score at will regardless.

I wonder what will happen the the Afghanistan team now. I suppose they will have to base themselves in Dubai or somewhere similar?

This is a fascinatingly poised test match now. 291 to win but all 10 wickets remaining. Ordinarily you'd say you'd back the team defending the total on the last day but this pitch is about as flat as you'll ever see and if there is somewhere you'd back yourself to knock this target it off it's there.

Really well done by Haseeb and Burns getting through to the close as well. Must have been a bit difficult due to being out in the field so long.

Depends what they get Root for. But decent so far I reckon.

You’re probably right but I want one of these two to get themselves set again tomorrow morning and go on to get that big score. Root will always be the key but would love for someone else to put their hands up.

In the time its taken me to drive from Handbridge to Newton where I live (about 2and a half miles), albeit through the centre of Chester, England have lost 4 wickets. What on eartrh happen?

Bumrah got it reversing and Pope and Bairstow were not up to the task. Moeen gave some catching practise to silly mid on off Jadeja as well.

Will give credit to Bumrah to a large degree as it was a great spell to be fair to him.

5th test cancelled due to COVID issues .

I presume some of their players have got COVID?

Feel for the fans but they will hopefully get refunded .

Least they didn’t start it then call the test off .
