RSA have bowled some utter dross since the 2nd wicket went down but on the flip side Root particularly has punished them. Root just looks like he has an extra second to play his shots compared to any other batsman, Ballance looked ok also.

In all seriousness - we look a batsman short. The debate reopens when Woakes is back but for now I'd bring someone like Westley in at 3 - drop Ballance down to 5 and use Ali as the main spinner. Team looks a lot sturdier then and you still have 5 bowling options plus Root as the occasional part timer
